What You’ll Learn

In the Epidemiology programme offered at Utrecht University you will learn to operate as an epidemiologist and clinical researcher. You can choose your specialization such as Clinical Epidemiology, Infectious Diseases Epidemiology, Pharmacoepidemiology, Medical Statistics, Environmental & Occupational Epidemiology or Veterinary Epidemiology. During the programme, you will explore the field of epidemiology through six months of intensive coursework.

This includes basic epidemiological and statistical courses as well as advanced courses in your chosen specialization. You will also have the opportunity to enhance and broaden your knowledge through additional topic-specific courses, such as Genetic Epidemiology and Cardiovascular Epidemiology.

Career In Epidemiology

Epidemiological research is increasingly asked for in clinical research, industry and policymaking, due to major changes in public health, health care systems, global demographic and economic trends.

This master’s programme prepares students for a subsequent PhD programme or for a career as epidemiologist in settings such as academia, (non)governmental public health organisations, human or veterinary medicine or industry, including pharmaceuticals.

English Language Requirements

You only need to take one of these language tests:

  • Minimum required score: 6.5

    The IELTS – or the International English Language Test System – tests your English-language abilities (writing, listening, speaking, and reading) on a scale of 1.00–9.00. Academic Requirements

You have a Bachelor Degree (equivalent to a Dutch Bachelor Degree) in: Biomedical Sciences; Medicine; Veterinary sciences; College of Pharmaceutical sciences; Other relevant science programmes.

Proof of your proficiency in English (CAE- Level B, CPC- Grade C).
