The MA in Research in Public Administration and Organizational Science (PAOS) focuses on societal problems and critical challenges that organizations in the public domain face.
This program focuses on the new challenges that public governments at all levels face. These flow from long-term trends such as Europeanization, globalization, changing information and communication technologies, climate change and societal fragmentation, issues related to migration and individualization, and increasing cultural pluralization. The Master's Program starts with deepening your theoretical knowledge of central themes in Public Administration and Organization Science, such as public policy, public management, bureaucracy and public service, and human resource management. It provides a solid basis in the philosophy of science and a wide variety of research methods. All this prepares the ground for a theory-oriented or policy-oriented research project that is the core of the Program's second year. This Master's Program prepares you for a career in which theoretically informed analysis and critical assessment of research findings are essential requirements: for example a university researcher, researcher with a research institute or think tank, as a policy advisor or consultant.
