About

At the Oulu Business School (OBS), the primary focus in marketing education and research is in business-to-business relationships and networks. The studies offer a broad understanding of the interaction and processes between the organisations in business networks. As part of their studies, the students develop expertise in fundamental marketing areas such as campaigns, branding, procurement and logistics, and digital marketing practices. The MS in Marketing is taught at University of Oulu.

OBS is one of the first Nordic business schools to earn AACSB International business accreditation. Only some 5 % of the world’s business schools have fulfilled the AACSB quality standards.

OBS offers four focal research areas in marketing: industrial marketing, electronic business, logistics and supply chain management, and service and service business management.

The education is based on high-quality research and active co-operation with local and global companies and organizations. Education in marketing will help students to develop not only the professional capabilities necessary in customer and network relationship management but also abilities to apply scientific knowledge in the practice of marketing.

English Language Requirements

You only need to take one of these language tests:

  • Minimum required score: 6.5

    The IELTS – or the International English Language Test System – tests your English-language abilities (writing, listening, speaking, and reading) on a scale of 1.00–9.00. The minimum IELTS score requirement refers to which Overall Band Score you received, which is your combined average score. Read more about IELTS.

  • Minimum required score (Grade C): 180

    The CAE test – or the Cambridge Advanced English – is an exam for applicants who wish to get a Certificate in Advanced English. To receive the Advanced certificate, test-takers must score between 142 and 210 on the Cambridge English: Advanced test. Read more about CAE.

  • Minimum required score: 580

    The TOEFL – or Test OF English as a Foreign Language – offers a paper-based test (PBT). The final, overall PBT score ranges between 310 and 677, and is based on an average taken from the three test components (listening, structure, and reading).   • Minimum required score: 92

    The TOEFL – or Test Of English as a Foreign Language – offers an internet-based test (iBT). The final, overall iBT score ranges between 0 and 120, and includes a scaled average from the four components (reading, listening, speaking, and writing). Read more about TOEFL (iBT).

Academic Requirements

  • An appropriatebachelor's, or higher level degree(or equivalent)completed in auniversityis required of applicants. In addition, students with aBBA degree (tradenomi)from a Finnish polytechnic institute (ammattikorkeakoulu) are eligible.
  • A successful applicant has obtained their first academic degree, normally a Bachelors degree or equivalent, from an institution of higher education. As a rule, the Bachelors degree is the lower academic degree. This degree should be equivalent of at least three years of full-time studies (180 ECTS).
  • All applicants are required to prove a high level of proficiency in English language. All programmes ask the applicant to demonstrate their level of English language.
