Do you have an interest in technology and engineering coupled with an ambition to become a leader in today’s complex business world? Studying the Bath MSc in Innovation and Technology Management could be the answer.

Whilst other programmes explore the management of technology from either a technical or management perspective, our MSc is unique through its combination of management and engineering, integrating the two disciplines to ensure you have the necessary skills to manage across boundaries.

A full-time, 12-month intensive Master’s programme, the MSc in Innovation and Technology Management is a joint degree run by two of the University of Bath’s top ranked departments - the School of Management and the Department of Mechanical Engineering. It is designed for graduates with at least a 2:1 Honours degree (or overseas equivalent) in engineering, management or science.

Course Content

Programme Structure

The programme has been designed around the specific themes of Innovation & Technology Management. The units are structured to provide a strong and coherent narrative. The introductory unit takes a high level look at innovation management, introducing the key themes and concepts that will be explored in more depth throughout the year. Subsequent units are focused on an aspect of innovation such as: creativity; strategy; new product development; and commercialisation. Every unit is bespoke - that is, tailored to the exact needs of the ITM programme. Each unit is delivered in modular format, over 1 week, which creates a unique, in depth learning experience.

Requirements

Candidates should have a good undergraduate degree (2:1 or above or overseas equivalent) in engineering, management or science. Other subjects will also be considered. An essential requirement will be students who have a high degree of maturity and curiosity with regard to producing world-class organisations in the 21st century.

We also require:

  • A minimum of GCSE Grade B (or overseas equivalent) in Mathematics
  • A minimum of GCSE Grade C (or overseas equivalent) in English

In addition, all non-native speakers of English are required to have passed English language tests.

  • IELTS with a grade of at least 6.5 overall and no less than 6.0 for any of the four parts (listening, reading, writing, speaking);

If English is not your first language but you have completed the whole of your undergraduate studies in the UK, you are exempt from IELTS requirements.
