Removing telecommunication technology from the modern information society is impossible. It's a dynamic area of expertise where knowledge of electrical engineering, math & IT, physics, chemistry technology and innovation sciences are combined. The Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) programme is delivered by Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e).



The special Master Broadband Telecommunication Technologies has four different profiles:

  • Electrical Engineering

  • Chemistry Technologies
  • Industrial Engineering & Innovation Sciences

The contents of the program depend on the profile of the faculty where you follow this course. Within the Electrical Engineering profile, students get a broad education with a certain degree of specialisation at the end of the program and in the closing research project.

The program also contains subjects on professional development and two internships. You will end the Master with a research project. After this Master, the Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) offers the Broadband Telecommunication Technologies (BTT) Master certificate.

Telecommunication is a wide area of expertise. It entails research, development and fabrication of components, equipment, materials, and systems. Furthermore, it contains hardware and software, network control, management of steering protocols, and company methods. The development and exploitation of applications is also a part of it.

NVAO accreditation

This special Master’s track is formally a track of the Master’s program Electrical Engineering. The Master’s program Electrical Engineering is accredited by NVAO (Nederlands-Vlaamse Accreditatieorganisatie), the Accreditation Organization of the Netherlands and Flanders.

Programme Structure

The Broadband Telecommunication Technologies Master at Eindhoven University of Technology has a broad program with mandatory subjects:

English Language Requirements

You only need to take one of these language tests:

  • Minimum required score: 6.5

    The IELTS – or the International English Language Test System – tests your English-language abilities (writing, listening, speaking, and reading) on a scale of 1.00–9.00. The minimum IELTS score requirement refers to which Overall Band Score you received, which is your combined average score. Read more about IELTS.

  • Minimum required score (Grade C): 180

    The CAE test – or the Cambridge Advanced English – is an exam for applicants who wish to get a Certificate in Advanced English. To receive the Advanced certificate, test-takers must score between 142 and 210 on the Cambridge English: Advanced test. Read more about CAE.

    Note: degree programmes and applications may require a more specific minimum score for admission.

  • Minimum required score: 90

    The TOEFL – or Test Of English as a Foreign Language – offers an internet-based test (iBT). The final, overall iBT score ranges between 0 and 120, and includes a scaled average from the four components (reading, listening, speaking, and writing). Read more about TOEFL (iBT).

Academic Requirements

You will have direct access to the Broadband Telecommunication Technologies Master (BTT) if:

  • You have finished a TU/e Bachelor Electrical Engineering
  • You have finished a TU/e Bachelor Technical Physics
  • After successfully completing a connecting Minor

Several Bachelors of Delft University of Technology and University Twente also permit direct access.

You can also choose the BTT Master with one of the following Bachelors:

  • Technical Mathematics
  • Technical IT
  • Chemistry Technologies
  • Technical Innovation Science
