In the Master's Degree in Business Administration from the University of Groningen you learn to deal with complex management issues. There are four tracks that all specialize in one particular area of business administration:

  • Change Management 
  • Organizational & Management Control 
  • Small Business & Entrepreneurship
  • Strategic Innovation Management

The programme is intended for students with an academic background in Business, Management, Finance or Marketing.

Each specialization has high academic standards and is research oriented. Therefore, all your lecturers are researchers. You will work intensively in small groups. Occasionally, a guest lecturer from a company is invited to speak about their expert experiences in the world of business administration. All specializations are internationally orientated.

Job prospects

As a graduate, you are qualified to work in national and international companies, non-profit organisations and government institutions. Think of positions such as management trainee, internal or policy consultant, financial or control officer and organisation advisor. Because all our programmes are EQUIS and AACSB accredited, your degree will be highly valued on the labour market.

  • Change Management (specialization) - you will learn to deal with the complexity of organisational change as a dynamic interplay of organisational, technological, cultural and human factors.
  • Organizational and Management Control (specialization) - concentrates on the knowledge and skills that contribute to good guidance and management of organisations. 
  • Strategic Innovation Management (specialization) - considers the whole strategic process of managing innovations within companies and between companies. 
  • Small Business & Entrepreneurship (specialization) - you learn to understand the role SMEs are playing in the modern entrepreneurial economy and, more importantly, the strategic and managerial challenges small business owners and entrepreneurs face.

                                            The IELTS – or the International English Language Test System – tests your English-language abilities (writing, listening, speaking, and reading) on a scale of 1.00–9.00.                                             The TOEFL – or Test OF English as a Foreign Language – offers a paper-based test (PBT). The final, overall PBT score ranges between 310 and 677, and is based on an average taken from the three test components (listening, structure, and reading).                                             The TOEFL – or Test Of English as a Foreign Language – offers an internet-based test (iBT). The final, overall iBT score ranges between 0 and 120, and includes a scaled average from the four components (reading, listening, speaking, and writing). Read more about TOEFL (iBT).

                                            Required score: 500

                                            The GMAT - or Graduate Management Admission Test - is a frequent requirement for admission at management and business schools across the world. The GRE score ranges between 200 and 800 and measures the verbal and quantitative reasoning of test-takers. Read more about the GMAT.

                                          • This programme accepts GRE scores, however, has not provided a recommended or minimum required score range.

                                            The GRE - or Graduate Record Examinations - is a standardized test administered by Educational Testing Service (ETS) and is part of the admission requirements at many graduate schools and business schools. The GRE score uses a range between 130 and 170 and measures verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning, and analytical writing.
