The Master in Finance programme delivers sound, practice-oriented knowledge in the area of finance, offering at the same time a high degree of flexibility in the choice of specialist courses. Currently, you are able to choose three specialist options from a total of eight, for example Asset Pricing & Derivatives, Advanced Real Estate Financing, Management Control, Financial Risk Management, Enterprise Risk Management, Asset Management & Alternative Assets, Private Wealth Management, Strategic Corporate Finance, allowing you to tailor the programme to meet your career objectives.
All courses are taught in English and in small groups to ensure high-quality learning. An integral part of the curriculum is a study experience abroad (third semester) at one of our renowned partner universities. In addition, you also have the opportunity to gain a dual degree (e.g. an MBA or a specialist Master from one of our partner universities).
In the Master in Finance you will take a critical look at and analyse financial issues and situations. Through the involvement of experts and managers from the financial sector, an integrated compulsory internship lasting at least six weeks in Germany or abroad and extra-curricular events such as workshops, corporate visits or presentations, you will learn to apply theoretical knowledge to practical settings. At the same time you will have the opportunity to extend your network to include our corporate partners, for example Morgan Stanley, Bank of America, Merrill Lynch, and Rothschild, to name just a few.
Personal coaching in one-to-one talks, optimal support of personal development through modules such as Studium Fundamentale and Personal Mastery, together with a wide range of student initiatives round off the curriculum.
The modules Research Methods I & II, Studium Fundamentale I & II and Personal Mastery are compulsory in all Master's programmes. This gives you the opportunity to learn from and share experiences and ideas with students pursuing other specialist options.
Advanced Finance I & II, Advanced Accounting and and Financial Modelling are compulsory courses in the Master in Finance. In addition, you are able to choose three out of eight specialist options to tailor the programme to meet your career preferences.
The third semester is reserved for your study experience abroad and the compulsory internship. The Master’s thesis is written between the second and third semester, frequently in cooperation with a company from the financial sector.
