Software systems play an often unseen yet highly important role in our society. Consider, for example, the systems of banks or insurance companies, or the software in a television set, internet search engines or software that controls the electricity network. We cannot manage without them. The Computer Science and Engineering programe is delivered by Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e).

About

In the Master's degree program in Computer Science and Engineering at  Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) you will learn to design quality software. You will also combine a scientific perspective with the approach of an engineer. You will systematically produce inventories of requirements and incorporate them into your design.

As a graduate in Computer Science and Engineering, you will have developed a scientific perspective combined with a practically-oriented approach, and that will form an excellent foundation for a successful career.  
There are numerous fields in which computer science is applied, which means that you could find yourself in any number of roles. You will find computer scientists in research laboratories, banks, (government) organizations, hospitals, multinationals and internet companies, to name a few.

    Compulsory Courses
      Within the CSE master there are three streams with different compulsory courses.

        Electives

              The electives prepare you for your specialization. There is a wide variety of courses to choose. Other courses, such as those from other programs, or even from other universities, are also possible if they are more appropriate to your final project.

              English Language Requirements

              You only need to take one of these language tests:

                The IELTS – or the International English Language Test System – tests your English-language abilities (writing, listening, speaking, and reading) on a scale of 1.00–9.00. The minimum IELTS score requirement refers to which Overall Band Score you received, which is your combined average score. Read more about IELTS.

                The CAE test – or the Cambridge Advanced English – is an exam for applicants who wish to get a Certificate in Advanced English. To receive the Advanced certificate, test-takers must score between 142 and 210 on the Cambridge English: Advanced test. Read more about CAE.

                Note: degree programmes and applications may require a more specific minimum score for admission.

                The TOEFL – or Test Of English as a Foreign Language – offers an internet-based test (iBT). The final, overall iBT score ranges between 0 and 120, and includes a scaled average from the four components (reading, listening, speaking, and writing). Read more about TOEFL (iBT).

              Academic Requirements

              The admission requirements for one of our Master's degree programs depend on your previous education. Some levels of previous education provide direct admission to a Master's program, but it is also possible that you will need to apply for admission. In some cases you need to follow a pre-Master's program first. There are 3 types of previous education:

              • Bachelor's degree from a university in the Netherlands
              • Bachelor's degree from a university in another country
              • Certificate of Higher Vocational Education
