The aim of the two-year initial Master's programme and its various study tracks in the second year is to train physiotherapists with the necessary knowledge, insight, skills and professional attitude needed to provide expert, high-quality care in the field of rehabilitation sciences and physiotherapy:
For the Master of Science in Rehabilitation Sciences and Physiotherapy,the"Common additional education and examination regulations (OER) for post-bachelor programmes in 'Physiotherapy' and in 'Rehabilitation Sciences and Physiotherapy' in Flanders apply.

After graduation
Graduates of the Master of Science in Rehabilitation Sciences and Physiotherapy programme pursue careers as specialised self-employed physiotherapists or join health care teams in hospitals, rehabilitation clinics, centres for people with chronic diseases or psychiatric institutions. Moreover, some graduates work in the field of special education or provide care for persons with motor disabilities. A number of graduates go on to pursue a research career by obtaining a doctoral degree at the faculty.

(Inter)national
As part of the Master's programme, students are invited to carry out part of their internship abroad. The faculty has cooperation agreements with several (university) hospitals in neighbouring countries (France, Germany and the Netherlands) and countries further afield (Scandinavia and Switzerland).

Contents

Graduates will have a strong theoretical and scientific insight into the field of rehabilitation sciences and physiotherapy. They will possess the necessary skills to plan and carry out evidence based physiotherapy treatment and preventative strategies, including musculoskeletal rehabilitation, paediatric rehabilitation, neuromotor rehabilitation, cardiac/respiratory rehabilitation or psychomotor rehabilitation. Graduates will be prepared to assume leadership functions in the field of rehabilitation and physiotherapy and provide high-quality care.

Certified graduates of the Master of Science in Rehabilitation Sciences and Physiotherapy programme will:

- be able to practice evidence-based physiotherapy in a global health care setting,
- be able to develop patient assessment and intervention programmes through clinical reasoning and critical scientific reflection,
- be able to plan and conduct clinical and applied research independently,
- be specialised in one of the following fields: musculoskeletal rehabilitation, paediatric and neurological rehabilitation and rehabilitation for internal disorders or mental health care.

- Bachelor of Science in de revalidatiewetenschappen en de kinesitherapie
- Bachelor of Science in Rehabilitation Sciences and Physiotherapy
- Bachelor of Physiotherapy

All non-Flemish students are required to provide evidence of proficiency in English by submitting the results of an internationally recognised language proficiency test: TOEFL (Computer-based test 213 pt., Paper-based test 550 pt.) or IELTS (6.5 - 7 pt.)
