The Exeter MA in Leadership Studies is about living leadership. A global programme, delivered through individually coached distance learning, so that you can study anywhere at any time. Coach-tutors guide and challenge as you work through cutting edge theories of leadership, relating to other key organizational issues such as change and strategy. Alongside the theory, practice is centre stage - yours, your colleagues, and that of other leaders. Personal and organizational development come together in an academically respected 2 year part-time programme.
This part-time coached e-learning programme is offered as a three-stage pathway to enable you and sponsoring employers to manage time and money commitments. Enrolling initially on the Certificate, you may exit with the award of Postgraduate Certificate in Leadership Studies or, subject to satisfactory progress, you may opt to continue to the Postgraduate Diploma or MA in Leadership Studies.
The Postgraduate Certificate in Leadership Studies (60 credits) helps you to improve your leadership practice and the support you can give to other leaders. The Certificate can be tailored to suit the needs of different organisations and incorporated into customised programmes, giving you the benefits of an accredited qualification with bespoke leadership development.
The Postgraduate Diploma in Leadership Studies (120 credits) builds on the Certificate and shows you how to lead major change processes, as well as other forms of intervention in organisational life. We aim to demonstrate how to enhance organisational effectiveness through paying attention to leadership. The Diploma is particularly suitable for employers seeking to develop the most promising leadership talent within their organisation.
The MA Leadership Studies (180 credits) guides you through structured enquiry into complex leadership questions and is especially relevant if you are aiming to become internal or external consultants.
Please note that programme structures may be subject to change.
The MA Leadership Studies is run on a 24 month, part-time modular basis comprising 6 taught modules (120 Credits) run over 18 months, followed by an enquiry phase (60 credits) which is an independent-study dissertation run over a further 6 months. Students may also register for a Postgraduate Certificate in Leadership Studies (60 credits) comprising the first three modules or a Postgraduate Diploma in Leadership Studies (120 credits) comprising the six modules.
The programme is studied via e-learning with support from coach-tutors throughout.
