The aim of Master studies in architecture is to complement the knowledge of Bachelor students in the fields of culturology, ecology, cultural heritage preservation, building renovation, to train professional skills in architectural and urban design.



Study programme aims:

  • To provide up-to-date, specialised knowledge of professional and scientific activities which lays the foundation for original thinking and innovative artistic creation.
  • To foster the ability to substantiate products of artistic creation with applied studies covering the critical understanding of the interaction of knowledge between various fields and its application in the creative process.
  • To form the skills of leadership and innovativeness applicable in a working and learning environment that is unusual, complicated, and requiring to address problems involving many interacting factors.
Prospective study programme results:Knowledge
  • Up-to-date knowledge based on the results of applied scientific research in architecture and adjacent fields of activities, which he/she is able to apply in solving artistic, technical, and social tasks in a new environment, implementing innovations in the process of the design of architecture objects and other professional architectural activities.
Architecture of Buildings
  • Knowledge of up-to-date architecture creation trends, impacts of adjacent scientific and practical fields, modern principles of the balanced architectural design of structures and environment, and the impact of new materials and technologies on structural morphology.
Renovation of Buildings
  • Knowledge of the principles of the architectural and structural renovation of buildings and complexes and the impact of engineering solutions on the architecture of the object being renovated.
Architecture of Urban Complexes
  • Knowledge of the methodology of the pre-project research of architectural complexes, formation of urban spatial structures, design of urban complexes, and assessment of the impact of solutions on the urban spatial structure.
Urban Planning
  • Knowledge of the methodology of the integrated research of the existing condition of city and region territories, planning of complex urban systems, and assessment of the impact of urban spatial formation and design as well as of solutions on the environment.
Research skills
  • Is able to analyse, synthesise, and evaluate research data necessary for the studies, artistic and professional activities of an architect and introduction of innovations
  • Is able, while critically evaluating, to integrate knowledge of various fields of activities in preparing architectural projects in complex situations when sufficient and defined information is not available; is able, taking into account the character of the object being designed and aims established, to select appropriate methods of multifaceted analysis, to provide and assess alternative project solutions and their environmental impact.
Special skills
  • Is able to apply his/her knowledge and to use it as the basis for resolving architectural creative problems, while evaluating artistic, technical or social tasks set for the design of a specific object.
Architecture of Buildings
  • Is able to create innovative, original projects of structures while using the knowledge and understanding acquired in performing applied studies, coordinating and critically evaluating knowledge and experience of various fields.
Renovation of Buildings
  • Is able to select and develop an optimal solution for the renovation of a building selected on the basis of scientific research and to prepare a project where architectural and structural solutions would be balanced on the basis of the knowledge of structural physics.
Architecture of Urban Complexes
  • Is able to resolve, in the spatial space of cities, complex tasks related to the formation of the architecture of urban complexes and development and protection of the visual identity of cities; to prepare territorial planning documents of the parts of a city.
Urban Planning
  • Is able to resolve complex architectural and urban policy issues, tasks related to the spatial and functional structure of cities, development of social and technical infrastructure, and formation of urban complexes and landscape (townscape); to draw up territorial planning documents of cities and regions.
Social skills
  • Is able to clearly and reasonably convey information on the results of his/her creative work to specialists, other persons, and the public while evaluating such information in a critical way; is able to do teamwork in a creative team of specialists of other fields. Undertakes responsibility for the quality of his/her own activities and the activities of his/her subordinate personnel, its improvement and evaluation pursuant to the professional ethics and civic consciousness of an architect.

Personal skills
  • Is able to independently plan the learning process, to independently choose the direction for improvement and further development; is able to use the accumulated knowledge and experience of artistic creative work and research work, skills of systemic thinking in independent architect's professional activities; is able to make innovative decisions while evaluating possible public and ethical consequences of the activities;
