The Master of Science degree program Communication Engineering stands for digital transformation. The academic program has been designed to prepare our graduates for the dynamic and ever-changing digital world in order for them to successfully play a part in it. This hands-on, practical degree program enables our students to oversee the multitude of data streams in technical networks and to plan and administer modern communication systems.

Communication Engineering is built upon the three-year Bachelor of Science degree program Network & Communication Engineering. The integral concept of the degree program however allows students who have graduated from similar undergraduate programs to enroll. These could be BSc or Diploma Engineering programs from the fields of Informatics, Electrical Engineering or Technical Mathematics from a university or a university of applied sciences.

Graduates of this degree program located in Klagenfurt attain competent qualifications for activities in private sector businesses as well as research institutions. The Master of Science Communication Engineering is four semesters (120 ECTS-points) and graduates will be granted the academic title DiplomingenieurIn (DI). Successful graduates have access to for doctoral studies at a university.

Academic Requirements

In order to be admitted into a master degree program at the Carinthia University of Applied Sciences at least one of the following criteria must be fulfilled:

  • completion of a bachelor of arts/science degree that corresponds to the respective master degree program
  • completion of an equivalent degree program at a recognized Austrian or an international post-secondary institution of higher education
Later submission of required documents

Persons in their last semester of their bachelor degree programs may apply for a study place in a master degree program by submitting their most current transcript of records. The completion of the bachelor degree program certificates must be submitted during the registration process at the beginning of the semester.
