Description

Modern communication technology has made such an integral imprint on our everyday lives in such a way that none of us could have imagined just a few short years ago. This technology determines the speed of innovation and core technical research activities in a variety of business, economics and technical areas.

The Master of Science in Communication Engineering for IT is designed for digital transformation. The principles goal of this program is to prepare our graduates for the dynamic and continuous changes of the digital world and thus be in the position to successfully participate in its future developments. This practice-oriented degree program should provide our students with the ability to master the supposedly incomprehensible chaos of data transmission in technical network and to plan and regulate modern communication systems.

Communication Engineering for IT is coupled with the 3-year Bachelor program Telematics and Network Engineering. The integrated conceptualization of the Master program allows additionally graduates of other related degree programs. Bachelor or Diploma Engineer programs in the areas of Informatics (Computer Science), Electrical Engineering or Technical Mathematics from a university or a university of applied sciences are generally acceptable.

After graduation from this degree program at the CUAS Klagenfurt campus, you will have acquired well-established qualifications to undertake the responsibility for activities in private companies or in research institutes. The Master Communication Engineering for IT consists of 4 semesters (120 ECTS-points) and you will be granted the academic title of Diplomingenieur (Diploma Engineer) upon completion. This degree corresponds to the international comparable Master of Science (MS or MSc). The MS usually occurs after the completion of a similar Bachelor degree program and is presently seen in most European countries as the second academic degree which students on higher educational institutions can achieve.

With this degree you can also study further in corresponding PhD programs at universities.

Contents

The first phase of the curriculum contains lectures in Operating Systems for Networks, Selected Topics in Informatics, Optical Networks and Digital Signal Processing. During this first phase the basis for the follow-on areas of emphasis will be created and the different educational backgrounds and skills of our students will be brought to the same level.

Starting in the 2nd semester, students will begin to specialize in the areas of:

* Industrial Networks
* Mobile Networks

in order to develop or expand their expertise in the areas of Embedded Web Applications, Mobile Computing, Radio Frequency Communication and Telemetry. This application-oriented coursework allows students to open the way for ultra fast information transfer (>1 Gbits/s) and future killer applications like video-on-demand). Moreover, IT security and encryption are topics that play special roles in the curriculum as well. If you have ever asked yourself why mobile computing and networking play such a fundamental and important role in so many companies nowadays, then you will be provided with the correct answers in this study program.

During the CEIT degree program you will not only learn to understand the methodology but also you will develop new systems already on your own. Additionally, emphasis has been placed on non-technical courses, e.g., Rhetoric & Presentation, Business Processes, Legal Aspects in IT and Technology Assessment, as well. The curriculums structure due to the courses that integrate seamlessly with each other and the small group work create the prerequisites for a very efficient and optimized program. Access to labs equipped with the latest in technology leaves no wish unfulfilled. International experience and a broad educational spectrum are increasingly becoming more important and because of this, we have placed a special emphasis on developing a number of cooperation agreements with higher educational institutions and private sector firms. International semesters abroad are not only encouraged but also strongly supported.

Students will complete their 2-year degree program by writing a master thesis in the 4th semester.
