The Master of Business Administration (MBA) full-time programme from Hanze University of Applied Sciences, Groningen is targeted at business professionals who want to become tomorrow’s leaders and managers, and who are looking for a comprehensive education on business management in a global context.

Students learn to integrate the main business processes of organisations into effective and efficient corporate strategy. In addition, students acquire skills to deal with the diverse, and sometimes diverging, interests of various stakeholders involved in international business.

Admittance to the MBA requires a minimum of three years of work experience and prepares graduates for senior and general management positions. The programme focuses on leadership and management in an international context.

Semester one

Semester two

In the second semester you will deal with more complex, interrelated management issues. Acting as a consultant to a company, you will solve authentic problems affecting global business, which derive from current economic realities.

Leadership and decision making in the Boardroom
In the business simulation game ‘Invitation to the Boardroom’ you and your fellow students will be invited to work on the boardroom case of a real company. We will set you up with a task and a real-life boardroom problem that you will have to solve in limited time, with limited resources and changing parameters. You will step into the role of a boardroom executive and come up with your strategic direction. This business game requires you to put into practice all that you have learned.
Semester three
In the final semester you will focus on your MBA thesis, in which you will research a real question for a real client from a company or organisation. This could also be linked to setting up your own company. You are required to select a topic and a business setting for your MBA thesis during the second semester. IBS also offers support to students who wish to combine their thesis with an internship.

English Language Requirements

You only need to take one of these language tests:

    The IELTS – or the International English Language Test System – tests your English-language abilities (writing, listening, speaking, and reading) on a scale of 1.00–9.00.     The CAE test – or the Cambridge Advanced English – is an exam for applicants who wish to get a Certificate in Advanced English. To receive the Advanced certificate, test-takers must score between 142 and 210 on the Cambridge English: Advanced test. Read more about CAE.

    The TOEFL – or Test OF English as a Foreign Language – offers a paper-based test (PBT). The final, overall PBT score ranges between 310 and 677, and is based on an average taken from the three test components (listening, structure, and reading).     The TOEFL – or Test Of English as a Foreign Language – offers an internet-based test (iBT). The final, overall iBT score ranges between 0 and 120, and includes a scaled average from the four components (reading, listening, speaking, and writing). Read more about TOEFL (iBT).

Academic Requirements

    Required score: 600

    The GMAT - or Graduate Management Admission Test - is a frequent requirement for admission at management and business schools across the world. The GRE score ranges between 200 and 800 and measures the verbal and quantitative reasoning of test-takers. Read more about the GMAT.
