The focus is on venture development, as well as on entrepreneurial marketing using co-creation with customers and design thinking. In addition, there is strong emphasis on obtaining and managing (venture) capital.

Programme Objective

The Master’s programme in Business Development and Entrepreneurship prepares professionals to create new value in an uncertain future. The programme is focused on delivering tools, skills and techniques to recognize and develop new opportunities, within established organizations as well as start-ups. The programme specifically focuses on these key components:

  1. Market analysis and empirical techniques for such analysis, including customer development.
  2. Strategy creation. Special attention is paid to the launch of new products and services.
  3. Organizing and managing fast-growing corporations and corporate units, internally as well as in value-creating networks.
  4. Financing new ventures, especially in a corporate environment.

You will actively participate in major research projects, conduct your own research, present your results, and write short essays and a major thesis. By the end of this programme at Utrecht University you will be able to:

You have a BSc of a research university in Economics or Economics and Business Economics preferably with some degree of specialization in Business Development and Entrepreneurship.
