Faculty of Natural Sciences and Technology
M.Sc. Mathematical Physics

Mathematics and physics are closely related. On the one hand, mathematics provides the methods for investigating certain problems in physics. On the other hand, increasingly complex physical theories, such as quantum mechanics or string theory, significantly affect the development of new mathematical theories.

M.Sc. Physics

The M.Sc. Physics degree program completes at a more comprehensive level the study of physics after receiving the degree of a Bachelor of Science in Physics. The Master degree program imparts advanced scientific knowledge in physics with particular first specializations and a final one-year Master Thesis, which proves the ability of independent scientific work, building upon the basic principles of physics taught during the Bachelor program.

M.Sc. Environmental Physics

Environmental Physics will help you enhance your knowledge of the complex relationships between atmosphere, hydrosphere (ocean), cryosphere (ice region) and solid earth (land).

Fachbereich Physik/Elektrotechnik
M.Sc. Master`s College Physics

RWTH Aachen University is a popular destination for students who value its academic diversity and international atmosphere. It has also been selected as University of Excellence for several times. In Physics, RWTH Aachen University is ranked among the top three universities in Germany. An innovative programme, the Masters’s College, links excellent education to the needs of international students and provides students with all the equipment that will help them to succeed in their study programme. The international Master’s degree in Physics from RWTH Aachen University is recognized worldwide. Moreover it will help students in their professional life whether they pursue a research career or plan to find a job as professionals e.g. in industry, where international experience always counts as a plus.

M.Sc. Physics of Life, Light and Matter

The international program focusses on the physics at the interface between life sciences, natural sciences, and engineering. Prospective students are expected to come from Germany, Europe, and non-european countries. The students are enabled to do research in areas which aim to control material and system properties on a microscopic or molecular level. Examples are the functionalization of biological, chemical or physical systems, and the control of light-matter interactions. The master thesis with a scientific topic of current interest is completed under guidance of experienced scientists of the Institute of Physics or from scientific groups participating in the Department ›Science and Technology of Life, Light, and Matter‹ of the university‘s Interdisciplinary Faculty.
