NABA was originally founded in Milan in 1980 by Ausonio Zappa, Guido Ballo and Tito Varisco. The trio wanted to change the rigid academic traditions of the past by introducing new visions and languages based on contemporary artistic practice and the creative professions. In 1981 NABA was officially recognised by the Ministry of Education, University & Research.
NABA is an internationally renowned innovative arts and design academy based in the heart of Milanís design scene. Student Life Office promotes social activities to facilitate student integration, both in campus (e.g. student parties at the Corner, the in-campus bar & restaurant), and out of campus (e.g. trips to visit beautiful destinations, including ski trips during winter time).
The Office also offers special deals for sport activities, most of them take place out of campus (tennis, football, etc), whilst weekly Yoga lessons are offered in campus.

For this purpose, NABA has activated a dedicate office aimed at supporting students with at least two housing alternatives that satisfy their preferences and budget. Immediately after the official pre-enrollment day, students can choose among a number of single and shared room at Campus walking distance, in apartments managed by the school. The option is available upon request. On their arrival students will be able to move in directly.
NABA library contains books and magazines related to the main subjects of interest of NABA courses and all the studentsí theses starting from 1980 (NABA foundation year). Videotapes and DVDs of Italian and foreign films and subscriptions to various magazines and journals specialised in our fields of interest enrich the heritage of the library.
Lessons take place on NABAís campus located inside an industrial complex that has recently been renovated with respect to its notable architectural value.
NABA is located in one of Milanís historical districts called Navigli (canals), one of the most attractive and liveliest areas in the city.
The campus also boasts excellent IT infrastructure and laboratories for the different disciplines.
The three-year Bachelor of Arts Degree Programs, the two-year Master of Arts Degree Programs and the Master Programs lead to the attainment of legally recognised degrees and to the achievement of educational credits that will allow students to continue their studies in Academies and Universities in Italy and abroad.
