Founded in 1980, NABA is an internationally renowned innovative arts and design academy based in the heart of Milanís design scene. Set in the beautiful Navigli area of Milan, the modern NABA campus is 17,000 mq and consists of 12 buildings. All facilities, equipment and individual subject studios are constantly updated to keep studentsí work as fresh and cutting edge as possible.

NABA library contains books and magazines related to the main subjects of interest of NABA courses and all the students theses starting from 1980 (NABA foundation year). Videotapes and DVDs of Italian and foreign films and subscriptions to various magazines and journals specialised in our fields of interest enrich the heritage of the library.

Career Services

The Career Service office will support you in creating self promotion tools: curriculum vitae, cover letters and creating professional porfolios. As it keeps close contacts with industry, it will put you in contact with companies to create job opportunities and internships.

Student Life

NABA is located in one of Milans historical districts called Navigli (canals), one of the most attractive and liveliest areas in the city.

The Student Life Office organizes several cultural and sports events addressed to students and will guide you through the various agreements that NABA has setup with external sports centers, restaurants and retail shops. The Student Life also organizes short trips such us sky holidays on snow and week end visits to discover the beauties of Italy. The campus also has a Language School in which students can learn Italian while they are here.

Lessons take place on NABAs campus located inside an industrial complex that has recently been renovated with respect to its notable architectural value.

The Campus hosts several labs:

  • A Fashion Lab and a Textile Library with a collection of textiles including technical data sheets, to be used as preparatory work.
  • Textile Design and Knitting Lab, where students can develop personal creations utilizing looms and dye tanks.
  • Design Lab which includes the model-making lab, metal, wood, plastic, and 3D sections.
  • Media Labs for video editing, 2D and 3D modeling, light design video arts.
  • Light Design laboratory, which provides standard equipment including: American stage lightings, blueback backgrounds, standard spotlights and light-stands and more sophisticated equipment such as light mixer, spotlights and lights.
  • Sound lab, an educational project within the Sound Production field: Djiing and Vjiing, Electronic Music Production, Sound Design and Sound Branding.
  • Fine Arts Lab equipped with easels, spaces and counters fitted for individual work. The calligraphic engraving lab, on the right side, is also fully equipped for print-making.

In an expressly renovated space within the campus you may enjoy the Cafeteria, a bar and restaurant service offering breakfast and drinks, as well as self-service cafeteria during lunch time.

The roof hosts a pleasant terrace where you can rest and have lunch during summer time.

A reading room and computer room are also available to students and can be accessed freely also after lesson time.


NABA is a non-state institution belonging to the Higher Artistic and Musical Education (AFAM) system, a section of the Italian University system ruled by the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research (MIUR). The three-year Bachelor of Arts Degree Programs, the two-year Master of Arts Degree Programs and the Master Programs lead to the attainment of legally recognised degrees and to the achievement of educational credits that will allow students to continue their studies in Academies and Universities in Italy and abroad.

NABA has also made an agreement with Regione Lombardia (Lombardys Regional Authority) that allows qualified students to benefit from the contributions set by the Authority for the Right to University Study (DSU - Diritto allo Studio Universitario).

NABA has developed a set of programs in English specifically designed for international students. These programs include Bachelor of Arts Degree Programs, Master of Arts Degree Programs, Semester Abroad Programs, Summer Programs and one-year Master Programs.
