Portland State University is Oregon's largest and most diverse public university located in the heart of one of America’s most progressive cities.
Serving Oregon's largest and most diverse student body
Portland State's 49-acre downtown campus is located in the heart of one of America's most vibrant centers of culture, business and technology. We are recognized throughout the world for programs like Urban Planning, Social Work, and Environmental Studies that directly engage the community, and aim our students towards the creation of a better, more sustainable world.
Four-Year Degree Guarantee
Portland State is the only university in Oregon to offer a Four-Year Degree Guarantee. Starting in fall 2014, PSU promises that full-time freshmen who sign up for the guarantee will get the support and courses they need to graduate in four years — or PSU will not charge tuition for any remaining courses. You pay for only four years. That’s our guarantee.
Oregon is our classroom
At Portland State University, our students and faculty take the classroom to the community. In Senior Capstones, students team up with local organizations to tackle civic challenges, working directly with Portland's youth and underserved populations. These students write grants, build watersheds, tutor ESL, advocate for the arts, and much more. This program is one of the reasons why U.S News & World Report and The Princeton Review rank PSU among the nation’s best.
Our Portland campus
Here in one of the nation’s most livable cities, a world of activity awaits. Portland is known for its progressive bike-friendly attitude, lively music and restaurant scenes, farmers' markets, endless recreation possibilities — and Portland State is in the middle of it all. Rail and bus lines connect the campus to every corner of the city. Beyond the metro area students enjoy the Pacific Northwest’s natural beauty via slopes, sails, surf and trails.
Integrating sustainability into curricula, campus, and community partnerships—that’s part of Portland State’s commitment to addressing global issues such as climate change and poverty. PSU faculty and students focus efforts that help communities strike a balance of economic resilience and environmental stewardship. PSU’s 49-acre urban campus serves as a laboratory for sustainable practices.
