About

History

Flinders University is named after the English navigator, Matthew Flinders, who explored and surveyed the southern Australian coastline in 1802. The Flinders University crest includes a reproduction of Flinders' ship ‘Investigator' and an extract from his book ‘A Voyage to Terra Australis'.

Student clubs

The Flinders University Student Association (FUSA) are responsible for, or help organise, student social events and services, including:

  • all the non-sporting clubs and societies on campus
  • social events like O'Week, monthly band days, weekly free student brunches, pub crawls, student forums and so much more
  • publishing the student magazine Empire Times.
Membership to FUSA is free and students will reap the above benefits, and a lot more support services.
