Danube University Krems was founded in 1994 and teaching started here in 1995 with three courses and 93 students. The university is the largest provider of postgraduate continuing education in Austria and one of the leading competence centers of academic continuing education in central Europe.
The majority of the students of Danube University Krems already have a university degree. The main part of university teaching in Danube University Krems consists of courses which are concluded with a Masters degree such as Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master of Science (MSc), Master of Arts (MA) or Master of Laws (LL.M.). The range of courses offered here extends from executive MBA, IT consulting, European Union law, future building solutions and music management to health care management, psychotherapy and special fields of dentistry. Danube University Krems also offers a number of short courses and seminars.
The faculties of Danube University Krems cooperate across the perimeters of the individual subjects. The university is committed to international aspects and to cultural diversity along the lines of education and research. The students come from 80 countries. More than 1,000 internationally renowned lecturers not only assure a high quality in education, but also the consistent exchange with the scientific community and international enterprises. Danube University Krems cooperates with more than 100 universities, institutes and enterprises worldwide, including the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada, The City University of New York, and the British Leeds Metropolitan University.
According to Austrian law, public universities are not subject to any obligations concerning accreditation. Nevertheless, Danube University Krems requests accreditation for many of its courses by international agencies.
Sports and physical fitness is an excellent means of achieving an enduring balance between one's professional and personal life. For this reason, Danube University Krems founded the service department 'University Sports and Health' in November 2002. Here we developed a special campus sports program for students and staff members of Danube University Krems and the IMC Krems
Campus Kids Children between the ages of one-and-a-half and twelve years are cared for at the painstakingly designed child care facility in the old building of Campus Krems. Staff members and students of the campus may register their children at this facility.Gastronomy on the Campus The cafeteria, cafés, restaurants and bars provide food and drink for students on the campus of Danube University Krems. Danube University Krems regards art and culture not simply as decorative padding but as an indispensable contribution to the everyday university life of teaching, learning and research; because art promotes the cross-disciplinary dialogue among students and teachers and helps to create an atmosphere which combines intellectual performance and sensuous experience. The culture programme on the campus is therefore directed primarily at staff and students of the Danube University Krems, but is intended to bring together the university and persons from Krems and the region who are interested in art at the same time

New campus with state-of-the-art teaching and research facilities
Danube University Krems is located in one of Europes most beautiful cultural landscapes, the Wachau region along the Danube, which has been named a world cultural heritage site by the UNESCO. A renovated tobacco factory dating back to the onset of the 20th century and new buildings on Campus Krems provide students and educators with an open, innovative, and motivational atmosphere for research and studying. The new campus, which was opened in 2005, provides the region with a new landmark of international acclaim.
