The Office of International Students and Scholars (OISS) is here to answer your questions and help you with any problem. Our dedicated team of advisers can assist you with problems concerning your student visa, social and personal adjustment to life in the United States, and other personal matters and concerns.
Yale dormitories, called residential colleges, are the foundation of Yale's social and intellectual life. They foster a sense of community and serve as a focal point for both informal and planned activities. Each has a Summer Master who supervises the Yale students who serve as residential counselors. Together they are responsible for the well-being of the summer residents.
The Yale University Library is home to thirteen million volumes and information in all media, ranging from ancient papyri to early printed books to electronic databases. The “Library” is actually housed in twenty-two buildings across campus, including the Sterling Memorial Library, the Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library, and the new Bass Library.
Computer clusters are available in each residential college. If you bring your own laptop, you also have access to an Ethernet connection in your dorm room. You will need an Ethernet adapter and a category 5 Ethernet patch cable.
Yale University Health Services provides limited coverage to students registered in Summer Session and living on campus.
All students are required to have health insurance provided by a U.S. insurance company. Students will be enrolled automatically in the health insurance plan offered by the Summer Session and charged a fee.

In summer Yale forms its own community, supported by a dedicated staff who help students adjust quickly and make the most of their time here. Summer counselors coordinate a wide range of activities on campus and field trips to nearby attractions. The Yale campus is rich in art, architectural, and athletic resources.
The Payne Whitney Gymnasium is available for all summer students with I.D.Facilities include basketball, volleyball, and a suspended three-lane 1/8-mile indoor jogging track; an air-conditioned Fitness Center with Cybex weight-training circuits and free weights; two indoor pools; gymnasia for dance, martial arts, etc., and separate saunas for men and women. Physical education classes in aerobics, swimming and yoga are available.
