The Romanian-American University was founded in 1991 by Professor Ion Smedescu, Ph.D. with the purpose of promoting the American progressive educational values combined with the rich internationally recognized academic traditions of the Romanian educational system. University has 6 faculties: Domestic and International Business, Finance and Banking, Management – Marketing, Informatics for Economics, Economic European Studies, Domestic and International Tourism Economy and Law. At the moment we offer 2 Bachelor and 3 Master programs in English. Romanian-American University provides its students with numerous Academic facilities. American Programs Office and Erasmus Office offer possibilities to study or have internships abroad while Department of Asian studies invites students to learn culture and languages or Japan, China, South Korea and Azerbaijan. Murray Rothbard Center of Political Economy and Business organizes seminars and courses for everyone passionate about business and Microsoft Innovation Center provides support and free software. IATA Authorized Training Center prepares specialists for travel, tourism and aviation industries while CISCO Academy trains professionals in IT.
Accreditations The Romanian-American University received the „High Confidence Rating" certification (the best of all possible distinctions) from the Romanian Agency for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ARACIS), which is a full member of the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA) and is registered in the European Quality Assurance Register for Higher Education - EQAR.The University and all our academic programs are fully accredited by the Romanian Agency for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ARACIS), and the degree granted is internationally recognized.University has been evaluated by the European University Association’s Institutional Evaluation Programme.The Romanian-American University is "The Best Private University in Romania" according to the independent "University Ranking" survey by Kienbaum Management Consultants in collaboration with "Capital" business magazine.
All necessary facilities for students are in the same campus which makes their living much more comfortable. 11-floor dormitory is connected to the university through canteen, so students don’t need to exit outside in winter to go to classes. There are 3-4 people rooms with private bathroom costing 90-100 EUR/month. University has a fitness room with solarium and sauna. Students have a medical office, bank and even a chapel in the main campus so their basic needs can be easilly satisfied. RAU also has a bookstore for clothing and souvenirs with Romanian-American University. Another campus of the university hosts various sports facilities for team sport activities: basketball, tennis, football courts, table tennis.
University hosts a Student Club that organizes various events and parties for students, “Travel mates” tourism club organizing trips and tours, student magazine “Performance” and English classic and popular book library to help pass students’ free time efficiently. University is located very close to the biggest park in Bucharest where students can walk, jog, rent a bike or a boat. A few bars and restaurants are around the campus as well.The city offers a lot of museums, buildings and historic places to visit, several parks to go to. Bucharest is also famous for its vibrant nightlife. Students can choose from numerous bars, pubs, clubs, restaurants and cafe’s in the oldtown which can easily be reached by public transportation or taxi – Bucharest has one of the cheapest taxi services in Europe.
