The Romanian-American University was founded in 1991 by Professor Ion Smedescu, Ph.D. with the purpose of promoting the American progressive educational values combined with the rich internationally recognized academic traditions of the Romanian educational system.
The University has 6 faculties: Domestic and International Business, Finance and Banking, Management – Marketing, Informatics for Economics, Economic European Studies, Domestic and International Tourism Economy and Law. At the moment we offer 2 Bachelor and 3 Master programs in English. Romanian-American University provides its students with numerous Academic facilities. American Programs Office and Erasmus Office offer possibilities to study or have internships abroad while Department of Asian studies invites students to learn culture and languages or Japan, China, South Korea and Azerbaijan.
The Murray Rothbard Center of Political Economy and Business organizes seminars and courses for everyone passionate about business and Microsoft Innovation Center provides support and free software. IATA Authorized Training Center prepares specialists for travel, tourism and aviation industries while CISCO Academy trains professionals in IT.
Due to the reform imposed by the Bologna Process, the University pursued the increasing compatibility of its educational offer with that of the European education and has also achieved, through its actions, the opening of an integrated education system (bachelor - master - Ph.D.).
Through its accomplishments, the Romanian-American University has consolidated its position in the Romanian educational system, and its activity has achieved new standards, necessary in the context of a harsh competition on the highly qualified labor market of the European Union and all over the world. By pursuing its mission and goals, the university succeeded in developing and consolidating a good reputation among Romanian and international companies.

The university offers its students an extensive array of facilities so that life on campus and during their studies is as pleasant as possible. The hotel offers clean, modern dorm rooms to live in, fresh and healthy food is served each day at the cafeteria, and students also have access to fitness facilities and lounge areas to relax.
