History

Education

Founded in 1946, the mission of the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences is to provide effective and high-quality engineering education at the undergraduate, graduate, and continuing-education levels.

Medical services

Student Health Services offers healthcare services to any registered UB student. Any UB student who is currently registered for classes can be seen in our clinic, regardless of the type of insurance plan he/she holds. This means you DO NOT need to be insured under one of UB's insurance plans to utilize Student Health Services.

Sports facilities

The University at Buffalo offers 20 Division I intercollegiate sports that compete at the highest level of competition in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). The 20 sports are: football, baseball, softball, women's volleyball, men's and women's basketball, wrestling, men's and women's swimming, men's and women's tennis, men's and women's cross country, men's and women's soccer, women's rowing and men's and women's indoor and outdoor track and field. The University at Buffalo competes in the prestigious Mid-American Conference in all of those sports except for women's rowing, which competes in the Colonial Athletic Association.

Student clubs

The Graduate Student Association (GSA) is the representative body for graduate students at the State University of New York at Buffalo. Its two key purposes can be divided into representation and services.

GSA is one of seven student governments at the University at Buffalo. These governments have seats on numerous University Committees ranging from the Recreation & Intramural Service Board to the President’s Review Board on Promotions and Tenure. GSA representatives sit on these committees and represent the best interests of graduate students. GSA also represents the interest of the organization on the Sub Board I, Inc. Board of Directors.

Accreditation

The University at Buffalo (UB) has maintained continuous accreditation by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education since 1921. Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools is a voluntary, peer-based, non-profit association dedicated to educational excellence and improvement through peer evaluation and accreditation.
