About

History

Merrimack College was founded in 1947 in North Andover, Massachusetts, by the Order of St. Augustine O.S.A.

The Augustinians, at the invitation of Richard Cushing, then Archbishop of Boston, established the College as a direct response to the needs and aspirations of local G.I.’s returning home from World War II.

Education

We provide professionally-relevant Pre-Master's Programs that are specifically designed for international students and taught on campus. Our aim is to teach you the English language, study and research skills you need to succeed in your graduate degree at Merrimack, as well as in your career. We offer the following Pre-Master's Programs:

  • Mechanical Engineering
Once you complete your course, and achieve the required grades, you will go on to study your chosen graduate degree at Merrimack College.

Career

The O’Brien Center for Career Development staff offer a wealth of resources, including career fairs and panels, researching employment opportunities, on-campus interviews, and extensive one-on-one advising to help you identify your interests, explore your options, and pursue your employment or graduate study goals.

Services

Student services

We provide a safe and supportive environment where you will feel at home from day one and make many new friends. Our expert teachers will support and encourage you so that you can learn new skills and grow in confidence. They will also assess your work regularly to make sure you are making good progress.

It seems obvious—but making the transition can be challenging. At Merrimack College, we provide a wide range of academic enrichment/support services to help you settle in, handle your work, and be a better student.

Housing services

One way you can be part of this community is through college housing. Students have a variety of types of residence halls they can live in during their time at Merrimack from standard double rooms and suites to apartments on and off campus.Students will get to know their Resident Advisor (RA) who is an upperclass student who lives within the community. RAs plan events and help students get to know each other. Events that RAs have planned in the past year include trips to the North End in Boston for pastries, service trips, and pep rallies before sporting events.

Library services

McQuade Library fosters the intellectual growth of the Merrimack community of lifelong learners and serves as a valuable center of information resources and customized instruction.

Medical services

The health services staff is comprised of a physician, nurse practitioners, and registered nurses. Students are seen on an appointment-only basis. Services

Student Life

Campus life

Merrimack has a variety of on-campus living areas including traditional double and suite style residence halls, townhouses, a brand new residence village, and apartments.

The camaraderie and close friendships that come with living on campus are hard to beat. Living on campus is one of the easiest ways to meet new people, especially during your freshman year. In fact, oftentimes the connections you make at Merrimack will form your future personal and professional network for many years to come.

Sports facilities

Merrimack’s intramural sports program offers more than fifteen leagues and tournaments. You can play a wide range of sports, including flag football, soccer, ice hockey, and dodgeball. The newly renovated fitness center also provides a variety of sports and fitness activities.

The Merrimack Athletics Complex is the primary home of the Merrimack Athletic Department.

Located on the south end of the College's campus, the Merrimack Athletics Complex (MAC) houses all of the Department's staff, administrators, coaches and more.
