Rowan University has evolved from its humble beginning in 1923 as a normal school, with a mission to train teachers for South Jersey classrooms, to a comprehensive public research university with a strong regional reputation.
Rowan has attracted the attention of national organizations that evaluate colleges and universities. U.S. News & World Report ranks Rowan University 19th of Northern Regional Universities and third among the public institutions in the category. The College of Engineering is ranked 32nd nationally among master’s level programs and the Chemical Engineering program is ranked third.The Princeton Review included Rowan in its latest edition “The Best Northeastern Colleges” and included the Rohrer College of Business in its edition of the “Best 295 Business Schools” from among more than 1,800 business schools.

The Rowan University Alumni Association offers alumni a monthly career and professional development webinar series. All webinars are held on the first Wednesday of each month, except January, when it's the second Wednesday.
Alumni are also encouraged to join an ongoing discussion about careers, career opportunities and ideas with classmates and fellow alumni. The Office of Career Advancement at Rowan University also provides Rowan alumni with individual advisement, resume assistance, interview preparation and use of the Career Resource Center. Rowan features eight residence halls and five apartment communities nestled among the trees of a 200-acre campus in historic Glassboro, New Jersey. Students who live on campus benefit from facilities and resources that support students’ success as they transition to living independently. Research and experience tells us that students who live on campus participate more in student organizations, are more likely to complete a degree in four years and earn higher GPAs.
Rowan University Libraries provides the Rowan community with access to an extensive range of resources and services, which are accessible through four physical libraries and through the Library website. Subscriptions to more than 55,000 online journals and thousands of other e-resources are available 24/7 through the Library website.
Student Health Services offers illness and injury visits free of charge. Evaluation by a physician or nurse practitioner, some medications and treatments, and/or referral for illnesses or injuries are offered to all matriculated students attending classes. Student Health Services does not take the place of a primary care physician.
Rowan University is located in the southern New Jersey town of Glassboro, 18 miles southeast of Philadelphia. The campus is easily reached from the N.J. Turnpike, the Atlantic City Expressway or any of the Delaware River Bridges.
Develop your skills, compete alongside peers and help take your sport to the next level! All sport clubs are student run and student initiated; however, they receive professional guidance and financial support from the REC. While some clubs are highly competitive and play other schools, others are instructional or recreational in nature.
