In 1889, N.C. Legislature issues charter for Elon College, a four-year coeducational institution, located at Mill Point and founded by the Christian Church; William S. Long is founder and first president; 76 students are enrolled

Student services

ALANAM Student Council

  • ALANAM Student Council creates programs for African American/Black, Latino/Hispanic, Asian/Pacific Islander, Native American, Alaskan Native, and Multiracial students, including a Women's Institute, Town Hall Meetings, and Sisterhood Circle.

Active Minds (AMDS)

  • Active Minds is a student led advocacy organization, which strives to break the stigma surrounding mental illness through education, programs, and events!\

Alpha Chi Omega

  • The Iota Psi chapter of Alpha Chi Omega strives to promote the growth of real, strong women who work together to seek the heights.

Housing services

Elon's residential campus is located in central North Carolina and is regularly recognized as one of the nation's most beautiful collegiate environments.

Library services

The Belk Library Liaison program exists to build relationships between the library and academic disciplines on campus. Librarians are assigned to specific departments and interdisciplinary programs.

The library collaborates with faculty to:

  • Facilitate collection building – both adding to the collection and deselection
  • Collaborate with faculty members on their research
  • Promote new library resources

Student Life

Campus life

Campus Recreation facilities include the Koury Center, South Campus Facilities which includes Harden Clubhouse, Driving Range, Intramural Fields, South Gym and East Gym. Reservation requests for these facilities must be placed through S.P.A.C.E.S. using the reservation procedures and guidelines.

Sports facilities

The Club Sports program allows students the opportunity to compete against collegiate club teams throughout the southeast. The program is administered by staff members within the Campus Recreation department who offer professional guidance to the Club Sports Council. The Council is comprised of club presidents and their advisor. Each club is formed, developed, governed and administered by the elected student officers who work with the club's advisor and the Club Sports staff in Campus Recreation.
