Science and research are an essential element of modern cultures. They analyze, assess, and form the basis for our individual being and the conditions of our social order.

BTK – University of Arts & Design is reacting to these changes by also supporting research projects, in addition to offering courses. These projects can be theoretical and conceptual or artistic and design-based. Their approaches encompass both historical and contemporary sets of problems in equal measure. Since 2014, this work has been coordinated by the Institute for Design Research (IF) at BTK.

BTK’s Career Center supports you during your studies and afterwards, too, helping you find the best job and to master your first year as a professional designer with grandeur. After all, the program is just the first step along your path to career success, for which – in addition to competence in your field – a good network is essential. Thanks to the Career Center, you can profit from the continuously growing BTK network within the creative industry, which is constantly on the lookout for new talent.

Student Life

Campus life

Capital, world metropolis, creative center of Germany, and more: Berlin is an international magnet for producers of culture. Loads of museums of international prestige shape the metropolis – and their audience. To be in Berlin means to be where the action is – always able to benefit from the best and be inspired to design something new.

In the center of this creative metropolis is where you’ll find BTK’s Berlin campus. Historic and contemporary buildings lie in close proximity to one another. On the one hand, the characteristic main building is an impressive example of 19th century architecture – with a cafeteria and central inner courtyard that are popular spots for students to meet up.

The BTK University of Applied Sciences for Design is accredited by Berlin’s senate and received its institutional accreditation in 2009 from the German Council of Science and Humanities. Furthermore, all BTK degree programs are accredited by Germany’s Central Evaluation and Accreditation Agency (ZEvA).
