About

History

Founded in 1865 as Trenton Business College, the institution was established to train leaders in the booming, industrialized post-Civil War economy. Today, while Rider still produces some of today’s leading executives, it has also evolved into a diverse, comprehensive university with vibrant and expansive programs in the arts, sciences and education.

The main focus of the Campus Life staff is to connect you to the Rider community and ensure that you build links to our university and create memories here that will last for a lifetime!

Housing services

All of Rider’s residence halls have wireless internet throughout the sleeping rooms and common areas. In order to connect to the Nowires network you must receive a username and password from Conference Services.

Library services

Moore Library is home to more than 451,000 print volumes, 661,000 microforms, access to more than 51,000 periodical titles in a mix of print and electronic formats, and a wide variety of electronic research tools.

Medical services

Rider University Student Health Services serves the health care needs of all full-time undergraduate resident and commuter students, regardless of insurance choice. Health services are also provided to full-time graduate students who have purchased health insurance through Rider University. The university maintains clinics on both campuses.

Two campuses in Lawrenceville and Princeton, N.J.; within easy driving distance of both Philadelphia and New York City.Forty-three buildings, athletic fields, tennis courts, indoor swimming pool and lake on Rider’s 280-acre Lawrenceville Campus; 14 buildings on Westminster Choir College’s 23-acre campus in Princeton.Over 20 residence halls equipped with voice, video and data service.

Accreditation

Rider is regionally accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education and holds specialized accreditation with the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE), the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM), the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Education Programs (CACREP), and the National Accreditation of School Psychologists (NASP). Rider is also on the approved list of the American Association of University Women and the American Chemical Society.
