About

History

Azusa Pacific University, one of the largest Christian universities in the nation today, began on March 3, 1899, when a group of men and women gathered to form the Training School for Christian Workers.The early years of growth saw the school relocate and change leadership several times. Thenb the university relocated in 1946 to the city of Azusa, where it resides today.

Today at Azusa Pacific University, we work together as a team of difference makers to advance the work of God in the world through scholarship, teaching, and building disciples across all levels and delivery systems of collegiate education. 

Research

  • The Center for Research in Science (CRIS) aims to support STEM scholarship through on-campus and off-campus featured service-learning and research, internship opportunities, and research funding. The purpose of the Center for Research in Science is to be a core resource for students and faculty alike.

Azusa Pacific University secured a place in the most prestigious category of U.S. News & World Report’s America’s Best Colleges 2016 rankings, placing in Tier One at No. 175 in the National Universities category.

Housing services

The 53-acre West Campus is home to the School of Nursing, Behavioral and Applied Sciences, Education, School of Theology, two libraries, the Richard and Vivian Felix Event Center, the John and Marilyn Duke Academic Complex, and the Barbara and Jack Lee Place of Prayer, as well as numerous classrooms and offices. The Segerstrom Science Center, completed in 2009, is the most recent addition to West Campus.

The University Libraries at Azusa Pacific University provide access to resources and services to support the research and information needs of faculty, staff, students, and the surrounding community; 

ICT services

PC and Macintosh computers can be found clustered in the libraries and the Student Union. Students may use them free of charge.

Campus life

Located 26 miles northeast of Los Angeles in the San Gabriel Valley, the Azusa campus comprises East and West campuses, spanning more than 100 acres. The campus houses numerous classrooms, offices, dining venues, and living areas—all designed to serve the more than 9,900 students in more than 80 academic programs. 

Sports facilities

By providing athletic facilities, the university supplies positive environments for recreation. Students, faculty, and staff congregate in these areas to fellowship and exercise.
