University of Michigan-Dearborn was founded in 1959 with a gift of just over 200 acres of land and $6.5 million from the Ford Motor Co.
Since registering our first class of 34 students, we’ve continued to grow—setting a new enrollment record in 2012—and refine our vision for southeast Michigan.
We offer a transformative education reflective of University of Michigan acclaim and rooted in an ongoing commitment to transform metropolitan Detroit. Since our inception, we have set ourselves apart in higher education through intentional, meaningful engagement with local industry, government and nonprofits.
Both undergraduate and graduate students are able to work closely with faculty on critical, socially relevant research. Applied research is in our DNA. Our business and community partners rely on us to help generate real knowledge and real solutions. These projects allow you to get your hands and minds deep into real problems and learn through practice.
Every year, our Career Services Office helps students and alumni find full- and part-time positions within our partner organizations. Whether you aspire to be a mechanical engineer, financial adviser or biologist, we have the local, national and global connections to give you the experience and skills to succeed, wherever life takes you.
The Office for Student Engagement is your primary gateway to involvement at UM-Dearborn!
We engage students beyond the classroom through community service, leadership development, Greek Life, diversity and inclusion initiatives, campus activities and student organizations.
