Sechenov University is the first and the oldest medical school in Russia tracing its history from the medical faculty of Moscow Imperial University founded in 1758.
Having passed the path of glory Sechenov University enriched national and world science with many distinguished scientists and significant discoveries, and brought up thousands of physicians devoted to their work.
Higher education programs of all existing levels are implemented at the Sechenov University: from undergraduate, specialist and master programs to clinical residency programs and CME.
All proprietary courses are catered by the University's licensed faculty (about 90% of lecturers have postgraduate degrees) at up-to-date training facilities, including teaching hospitals and pharmaceutical labs.

Research activities of the Sechenov University are split into 37 basic directions which are defined by the innovative and socially significant priorities.
Accommodation is arranged on a sharing basis (2-4 in a room) in three hostels. All apartments are well-equipped with all basic conveniences.
The Central Scientific Medical Library dates back to 1919 when the first small sets of books were received. Over the years has evolved into the one of the biggest European centers of scientific medical data.
Nowadays the Library has at its disposal a unique collection of scientific publications in medicine and healthcare and one of the Russia’s best Centers of Library Information Technologies.
The University has its own Clinical Campus, Central Scientific Medical Library, Clinical Simulation Center, Museum of the History of Medicine, Botanic Garden and Stadium (multi-purpose sports complex with a swimming pool).
Supporting an idea of preventive healthcare I.M. Sechenov First MSMU has its own stadium named Burevestnik (russian for Storm petrel) at the disposal of students and staff members of the University. It is located in immediate proximity to the academic buildings and hospitals and comprises a football field, two track-and-field sectors, four tennis courts and a tennis wall, as well as artificial playground, gym, halls for sports classes, changing rooms, shower cabins, etc.
