Stevens Point Normal opened its doors in 1894 to 300 students. Several programs were offered in teacher preparation to anyone who had completed at least an eighth grade education and was not less than 15 years old.

Adult/Non-Traditional Student Services - Includes child care, housing options, financial aid resources and contact information for help with all of your questions.
Career Services - This office provides major and career counseling, resume workshops, job and internship search assistance, career fairs and graduate school resources.
Counseling Center - All UWSP students have free access to counseling services at the Counseling Center. This office also offers workshops on topics such as communication skills, relaxation techniques, stress management, study skills and time management.
Life in your residence hall will be more than just having a place for sleeping and storing books. Besides helping you adjust to college life, your hall will offer countless social, educational and service opportunities all year long. Each of our 13 residence halls is designed as a small living community for approximately 250 students, and we work hard to make sure your hall will be an inviting, comfortable and safe place to live and learn.
The Library main structure was built in 1970, with an addition in 1986. The lobby was remodeled in 2002; and The Food for Thought Café, just off the lobby, was opened in 2006. Several public and staff areas have been updated.
The Library is a member of the University College. The Library maintains both physical and electronic collections offering access to millions of information resources.
The Computing & Technology office helps with all of your technology needs, like your residence hall internet connection, campus computer labs, laptop checkout and your student email account.
Students enrolled in summer classes pay a segregated fee for health service as part of their tuition and are eligible to be seen at Student Health Service.
Students who are not enrolled in summer classes but were enrolled in the spring semester and are registered for the fall semester may pay a fee equal to what summer students pay in their tuition.
UW-Stevens Point is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission.
UW-Stevens Point's most recent reaffirmation of accreditation took place in 2008. The next regular reaffirmation of accreditation visit is scheduled for 2018.
In February 2012, UW-Stevens Point completed a focused visit from the Higher Learning Commission to examine issues related to "assessment with a particular emphasis on the assessment and subsequent revision of the General Education program and General Degree Requirements."
