Saint Paul, Minnesota, United States
At Bethel University, we're committed to excellence. But here, excellence means something more. It means taking our faith in Christ and integrating it into everything we learn, into everything we do, so we can accomplish incredible things—in our careers, in our communities, and in our world.

About

History

John Alexis Edgren founded Bethel as a seminary in 1871, with the name Baptist Union Theological Seminary. The seminary trained pastors to serve Swedish Baptist immigrants, fleeing religious persecution in Europe. Edgren, a sea captain and scholar who knew 30 languages, founded Bethel on the enduring conviction that Christians ought to love God with their minds and represent Him in all fields.

Education

Boldly informed and motivated by the Christian faith, Bethel University educates and energizes men and women for excellence in leadership, scholarship, and service. We prepare graduates to serve in strategic capacities to renew minds, live out biblical truth, transform culture, and advance the gospel.

Research

Bethel will be the Christ-centered university of choice for this century.

Rooted in faith. Committed to excellence. Bethel will become the leader in Christian higher education by building stronger communities, equipping confident leaders and gracious servants, and preparing passionate world-changers. Through our thoughts, words, and actions, we’ll demonstrate what it means for a university to be centered on Jesus Christ.

Career

Bethel University serves more than 6,000 students at locations throughout Minnesota and on the West Coast. We operate four different schools, each with its own unique student community and staffing needs.

Bethel University is committed to building an employee community that reflects the variety of the world and strongly encourages applications from candidates who will enhance the gender, ethnic and cultural diversity of its team of educators.

Bethel University employees must be strongly committed to our evangelical Christian mission, be personally engaged in a growing Christian faith, and participate in an evangelical church of their choice.

Student Life

Campus life

At Bethel, living on campus is convenient. You'll save on gas. You won't have to worry about finding a place to park every day. You'll have a short walk to class.

But we also think it's about something more. It's about sporting your residence hall pride at the Homecoming Cheer. It’s about painting the rock in the middle of the night. It’s about living steps away from a lake, a frisbee golf course, and a nature trail. And it’s about hanging with your friends and doing life together.

Sports facilities

The Schwan’s Super Rink at the National Sports Center is the largest ice arena of its kind. This state-of-the-art, $21 million facility features eight sheets of ice under one roof totaling more than 300,000 square feet. Bethel University Arena was part of a major expansion that took place in 2006 to include four new sheets of ice and the locker rooms that are home to the Royals hockey programs. The Royals locker room features separate rooms for players and coaches, laundry machines, exercise equipment, and skate sharpening, making it one of the premier facilities in all of college hockey. Also added was the 12,500 square foot Herb Brooks Training Center that offers weight training, speed, and fitness machines.

Student clubs

BSA – short for Bethel Student Association – has been a familiar acronym on campus for years. This year, student leaders have changed the name to BSG, or Bethel Student Government, which better reflects the active role of leaders who shape the student experience at Bethel.
