About

History

The University of Aberdeen was Founded in 1495 by William Elphinstone, Bishop of Aberdeen and Chancellor of Scotland. As Scotland's third oldest and the UK's fifth oldest university, Aberdeen is part of an elite group of six ancient British universities which includes Cambridge and Oxford. Throughout the 20th century Aberdeen has consistently increased student recruitment.
