About

History

Federation University Australia was formed when the former University of Ballarat and the Gippsland Campus of Monash University were amalgamated.

Education

Whether you have come straight from secondary education, are looking at a career change into teaching, or want to build on your existing skills, FedUni has options at undergraduate and postgraduate level from early childhood through primary and secondary teaching to vocational, adult and community education.

Research

We serve regional needs by establishing research programs in critical areas. These programs aim to attract the best researchers in their respective fields to our campuses from around Australia and globally, so that we are better able to understand and address the challenges that face regional communities here and abroad.

The Student Careers and Employment Service has some great resources to help students plan for their career, get part-time work whilst studying, and get that all-important graduate position.

Funded by the Student Services Amenities Fee we are here to assist students gain the skills to:

  • Develop effective and eye-catching application documents (résumés, cover letters or emails, selection criteria etc)
  • Sell skills and experiences at an interview
  • Mock interviews for you to practise before a real job interview
  • Make informed career decisions
  • Plan for a successful career in their chosen discipline area, and;
  • Manage a successful career into the future.

Services

Student services

The Academic Board is the principal academic body of the University. The purpose of Academic Board is twofold:

  • academic oversight of programs and courses of study in Higher Education and Vocational Education and Training in the University;
  • advice of an academic nature to Council on the conduct and content of those programs and courses.

Housing services

Living on Residence provides you with the best start to your university experience. First-year undergraduate students are guaranteed* accommodation during their first year of study.

The FedUni Living Residences offer comfortable, single fully furnished bedrooms. Communal living areas consist of TV/Lounge room and fully equipped kitchens. 

Library services

The Library is committed to supporting students to stay in their programs of study by providing targeted and mobile services. We will make it easier for you to reach us when you need to and encourage independence through self-service functions. We are proud that while we provide increasing self-service options that you still appreciate friendly face to face service and value our staff.

ICT services

To access our online systems you will need a log in (student ID) and password. Your preliminary password for your first log-in is the first initial of your first name, a full stop, and your full date of birth. 

Medical services

The Health Centre is accredited with Australian General Practice Accreditation Limited (AGPAL) and provides confidential consultations by appointment to the University community. It is also an accredited travel health and vaccination centre, available to the University community as well as to the general public. Advice by appointment.

Student Life

Campus life

Federation University Australia's research shows student attrition to be considerably lower for students who live with us compared to those who do not.

Sports facilities

UniSports offers an exciting range of recreation, education and health programs with fully qualified and experienced staff.

Activities and facilities include learn to swim, water aerobics, pool parties, gym/swim memberships, tennis and squash courts, dance studio, basketball court, sport and recreation centre, outdoor sports field and so much more.

Student clubs

The Student Services and Amenities Fee (SSAF) is used to maintain and enhance non-academic services and amenities that improve student experience and support a wide range of student needs. The fee provides funding for services and amenities such as sporting and recreational activities, employment and career advice, child care, financial advice and food services, as well as independent student representation structures. Please note: It is not compulsory for students to join any university based student organisations, and fee revenue cannot be used to support a political party.

Accreditation

FedUni Children's Centre are guided by the Education and Care Services National Regulations 2011 and Education and Services National Law Act 2010. The centres work within the National Quality Standards (NQF) to ensure continuous quality improvement . We also adhere to the Code of Ethics developed by Early Childhood Australia.
