The Polytechnic Institute of Bragança (IPB) is a Portuguese Higher Education Public Institution with a defined mission in creating, transmitting and diffusing technical-scientific and professional knowledge through the articulation of study, teaching, applied research and experimental development.

IPB has currently 7000 undergraduate and master students and is divided into five schools, embracing a wide area of knowledge and technology, including agriculture sciences, arts and sports, education and teachers training, informatics and engineering, administration and management, health, communication and tourism.

IPB has the most qualified academic staff of the Portuguese Polytechnic System (the highest number of teachers holding a PhD degree per total number of teachers), and an external recognition of its research activities, including a wide number of research projects, the existence of research units of the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) hosted in IPB and its outstanding position in scientific impact rankings such as the iberoamerican ranking SIR.

IPB belongs to the European Network for Universities of Applied Sciences (UASnet), which main objectives include the transferability of professional skills and the integration of applied research in their professional and technological education mission.

IPB has also an internationalization programme with widely recognized success, including the annual mobility of more than 700 incoming and outgoing students and 150 teaching staff members, as the result of the collaboration with several higher education institutions from all over the World.

IPB has awarded the ECTS Label by the European Commission and has recently accomplished the follow-up evaluation process by the European University Association (EUA).
