Warsaw University of Life Sciences (SGGW) is the oldest agricultural academic school in Poland, its history dates back to 1816. At present, the university consists of 13 faculties; there are 27,000 students enrolled.

About

History

WULS-SGGW, with its nearly 200-year tradition is one of the oldest and the largest universities in Poland. It is also one of the most modern universities, where tradition and modernity meet.

Education

The range of the academic programmes is systematically enlarged and currently includes 34 study programmes. Within study programmes there are 130 areas of specializations. Academic programmes are offered at the bachelor, master and doctoral levels, there is also a postgraduate MBA programme.

Research

The strategic goal of the University is further expansion of research collaboration in international programs.

WULS-SGGW is involved in multifaceted research that aims at solving current problems in the national economy, particularly in life sciences and related fields.

Services

Student services

International Relations Office in content-related matters is subordinate to the Vice-rector for International Cooperation.

The responsibilities of the Office include:

  • Issues relating to the organization of international exchange of academic staff and students of WULS-SGGW
  • Issues related to cooperation of WULS-SGGW with universities and other institutions abroad, as well as cooperation in creating the foreign policy of the University
  • handling matters of public procurement related to the issues of International Relations Office
  • correspondence and general matters of International Cooperation

Library services

The Main Library of Warsaw University of Life Science is one of the biggest agricultural libraries in the country. The Main Library holds over 430,000 volumes - books, periodicals and special collections (doctoral theses, master's theses, cartographic resources, microfilms).

The library is computerized and there are 115 positions connected to the Intranet.

Student Life

Campus life

The campus has a historic part, with an 18th century palace, and a contemporary part where all faculty buildings and dormitories are situated. WULS-SGGW offers good facilities and infrastructure in one place. On our 70-hectare main campus we have 12 dormitories, a modern library, a sports centre (with tennis courts, a sports hall and a swimming pool) a language centre, a veterinary clinic and much more. The campus is located in the southern part of Warsaw and can be easily reached from the city centre by subway or by bus.
