The Università della Svizzera italiana (USI) was founded in 1996, although the original concept dates back several decades. It was in fact at the beginning of the 19th century when the first proposal for an institution of higher education was mooted, addressing the aspirations of the Italian-speaking culture of Switzerland.
USI will continue to invest in the existing Faculties - Architecture, Economics, Communication, and Informatics
The USI Career Service provides USI students and graduates with appropriate guidance for the transition to their future careers and promotes relationships and privileged contacts with major employers.
Many organisations offer scholarships or grants. Some of these might help you to study for a Master at USI Università Della Svizzera Italiana / University of Lugano!
The Accommodation Service is a service of our University designed to help students and assistants in their search for a place to stay. The Service cannot guarantee full success at all times, but wants to provide free one-to-one advice and guidance through practical directions on opportunities and the appropriate channels.
The Library offers its services to those interested in literature from the fields corresponding to the Faculties of Communication, Economics, Informatics, and Theology. The library offers various multimedia tools and a comprehensive periodical collection. It also provides photocopying services and individual study spaces.
The aim of eLab -eLearning Lab is to promote the development of eLearning applications at USI and SUPSI, and, less directly, in the Italian speaking part of Switzerland
USI Università della Svizzera italiana has 2 campuses: one in Lugano, for the Faculties of Economics, Communication Sciences, and Informatics, and the other in Mendrisio (15 km South, closer to the Italian border), for the Academy of Architecture.
In both cities the campus has developed around ancient neoclassic buildings, skilfully adapted to host lessons, laboratories and ateliers. New buildings and infrastructures have recently been added to provide students, faculty and researchers with more highly functional spaces and top quality equipment. The campus is continuously evolving to better address the needs of its growing community.
This service raises awareness of the physical and social importance of sport in modern life. USI/SUPSI Sport activities enable all members of the USI and SUPSI community to take part in their favourite sports. Following are a few examples of activities offered:
