About

History

In retrospect, it is now clear how prudent it was back in 1975 to establish a university based on combining strong subject areas with interdisciplinary research and teaching. The questions facing our globalized society are becoming more and more complex. The right answers can only be found through close, cross-disciplinary cooperation – one of the University’s main assets.

Education

The University of Bayreuth has six faculties, whose disciplinary and interdisciplinary concentrations are to thank for the university’s national and international reputation – ideal conditions for those who want to teach and conduct research with the best and brightest.

One thing is certain: on this unique campus, interdisciplinary thinking goes well beyond the usual forms of interdepartmental cooperation. Proof can be found in our many interdisciplinary programmes of study. We offer students bachelor's and master's programmes that are one-of-a-kind in Germany. An excellent study environment awaits you.
