International students in the Netherlands are allowed to work part time, just like many Dutch students do. A job can help you to cover the costs, you can get some work experience, it can help you to make contact with the Dutch and it makes it easier for you to learn the language. You have to keep in mind however, that there are many students in Breda and only a limited number of jobs, so it may not be easy to find a job, especially if you donít speak Dutch.

Breda has a growing number of students and therefore accommodation in Breda can be scarce. For students it can be difficult to find a suitable place to live. Unfortunately, NHTV Breda has no campus or student rooms of its own and therefore NHTV relies on housing corporations in Breda. Rental prices for a student room in Breda vary from Ä300 to Ä500 a month, however it is more common to find a room for Ä 400.

Health and liability insurance All residents in the Netherlands are legally required to have adequate health insurance. Third-party liability insurance is highly recommended. You are legally required to have health insurance to cover any medical costs you may incur during your stay. We strongly advise you to take out a health insurance policy before you arrive.

BRESS (BREdase Studenten Sportstichting: Studentsí Sports Foundation Breda)offers students the opportunity to practise a variety of sports. Get to know new people while improving your physical condition. Forget about your studies and all the worries that go with it for a while!
As a student from NHTV you can buy a sports card for a year or an half year and you can participate in over 50 different kinds of sports. The sports program consists of weekly sessions. Besides this BRESS organises courses varying from 4 to 10 weeks and competitions. You can also reserve a hall, track or field if you want to sport on your own time.
In a college city like Breda you will make many new friends in no time. There is a vivacious student society and numerous fraternities and sororities, which organise a wide variety of activities.
