Heinrich Heine University (German: Heinrich-Heine-Universitt), located in Dsseldorf, Germany, is named after German poet and political thinker Heinrich Heine, who was born in Dsseldorf in 1797.



Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf is one of the younger higher education institutions in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia founded in 1965.


About 30,000 students and 1,700 teaching staff in five faculties benefit from the proximity of the institutions since all of them are located on a single campus. This allows for an open exchange contributing to the development of modern and interdisciplinary studies and creating synergies between research and teaching.

Our five faculties offer 50 different study sections. Next to a wide range of subjects in the fields of medicine, humanities, natural science, law, and economics we offer many interdisciplinary and postgraduate courses. Currently, the following degrees can be obtained: Bachelor, Master, State Examination (Staatsexamen) and the doctoral degree/PhD.

  • Company visits The International Office - in cooperation with HHU Career Service - organises visits at international companies in Duesseldorf and surroundings
  • Online career portal Make it in Germany: is a career portal for university graduates and specialists interested in permanently living and working in Germany.
  • Career Service: The HHU Career Service offers advice and workshops on job applications, recruitment and career planning, organises company presentations and runs the job portal Stellenwerk where job offers for students and graduates are announced.
