The Graduate School of the University of Applied Sciences Offenburg is offering four international Master Programs with focus ranging from Communication and Media to Energy Conversion and Business Consulting. It coordinates all international activities related to the Master Courses.
In 1964 the predecessor of todays University of Applied Sciences Offenburg, the former Badische Ingenieurschule, was founded by the parliament of Baden Württemberg offering programs in the field of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering. In 1970 the University moved to its new building at the present location. In the following years a large variety of new programs were introduced. Today the University offers a variety of 15 degree programs. The number of students has increased steadily, at present about 2000 students are enrolled in the University of Applied Sciences Offenburg - almost 20% are international students. The University of Applied Sciences Offenburg is an important and well known institution in the German education system with close relationships to the industry. Many prominent managers of big companies graduated from the University. One of them is Jürgen E. Schrempp, the former CEO of DaimlerChrysler.
Since the University of Applied Sciences Offenburg has been growing continously, the building inaugurated in 1970 became too small to house the increasing variety of programs. In 1978 the program "Wirtschafts-ingenieurswesen" was introduced and found its home in a historic monastery in Gengenbach - a neighboring town, 10 km away from Offenburg, nestling in the foothills of the Black Forest. In the following years the study course "Technische Betriebswirtschaft" and the MBA program "International Business Consulting" also found their home in this picturesque baroque building which has been preserved almost unchanged. Gengenbach with a population of about 12000 has a unique city center featuring half-timbered houses and historical monuments. Its attractive pubs and cafés make the town a desirable place to live and study.
