About

History

The University of Burgundy (uB) sinks its roots deep into the history of France. The origins of uB go back to the times of the French monarchy, with the founding of the Dijon faculty of law in 1722, at the instigation of King Louis XV of France.

Education

It counts 10 faculties, 4 engineering schools, 3 institutes of technology offering undergraduate courses, and 2 professional institutes providing post-graduate programmes.uB enrols 27,000 students, among whom 3,000 international students, every year.Fully involved in the Bologna process, uB offers 70 Bachelor programmes, 95 Masters programmes, 16 undergraduate technological programmes, 4 postgraduate engineering programmes, as well as PhD programmes in every field.Most programmes are taught in French, but a growing number is taught in English.uB is the only university in the Burgundy region but in recent years it has worked hand in hand with its sister university in the neighbouring region of Franche-Comté.

4100 housing solutionsCROUS offers 4100 students the opportunity of renting individual rooms either in residence or in well-furnished apartments.Exempting students from local housing taxes and giving them the opportunity of benefiting from financial aids packages(APL and ALS). The local CROUS also offers accommodations in private homes. (Homestay or Private apartment).If you’re a free mover student admitted in a Master program and that you’re coming for the firstt time in France you’re eligible to get a room on the campus.

Student Life

Campus life

The Dijon campus is the main one, with 24,000 students enrolled. Located 10 minutes away from the city centre, it spreads out over 120 ha in a very green environment. Several libraries, high quality sports facilities, a very attractive cultural centre, a permanent art exhibition, several university restaurants and halls of residence for students, a day nursery as well as 130 lively student associations are to be found on the campus. Public transportation is free on the campus.
