Everyone is enthusiastic about the campus, because, quite simply, there is nowhere else like it. Its got a special feel to it, Illustration: Authorial Practice postgraduate, Sue Corke, explains. In the winter the period buildings and drawn in evenings make it really atmospheric, and in spring everyone sits out in the gardens in between working - its a great place to study.
Less than half a mile from the original Falmouth School of Art (which now houses MA Fine Art: Contemporary Practice), and close to the two Foundation Studies studios, Woodlane forms the bustling hub of student life within Falmouth. Its on-site bar and refectory, subtropical gardens and relaxed, friendly atmosphere means that students tend to spend more than just your average 9-5 here. My studio at Woodlane felt more like an extension of my home, Sue continues. I was able to really make the space my own so that I felt comfortable and confident working there.
Home to BA(Hons) Fashion Design, Fine Art, Graphic Design, Illustration, Journalism, Performance Sportswear Design and Public Relations, and providing facilities for MA Creative Advertising and MA 20th Century Art & Design: Histories & Theories, the creative buzz about the place is hard to ignore.
Library & Information Services: At both Woodlane and Tremough, these centres provide an integrated learning environment for all students. Woodlane offers a specialist art and graphic design library with 70,000 books, e-resources and journals to meet the needs of the specific courses on each campus. Tremough houses our media and design collections, together with a wide-ranging collection to meet all students' needs. The collection of 200,000 books, journals, online and electronic resources, and specialist DVD collections are underpinned by a service allowing items to be transferred between sites, as well as an option to order specialist books from the British Library via the College. Both centres are wi-fi throughout and have subject librarians to support your studies.
With generous studio and floor space, graphic design suites equipped with industry-standard software, a newly equipped and spacious Fashion Studio and even an outdoor sculpture canopy, Woodlane will fire your imagination.
