Postgraduate Study

UAL offers an extensive range of courses in art, design, fashion, communication and performing arts at postgraduate level.

UAL also offer theoretical and practice based research programmes, leading to a PhD or MPhil award in any subject area where appropriately qualified supervision can be provided. The University is ranked among the UK’s top research universities with 83% of research graded as world-leading and internationally excellent, following the 2014 Research Excellence Framework.

University of the Arts London prides itself on the variety and quality of its facilities; from state-of-the-art design suites to traditional print studios. Each of the Colleges boasts specialist equipment and facilities, including stunning galleries, dramatic workspaces and performance venues.

Whichever College you choose to study at, you’ll have access to the resources at all six of our Colleges, including the Learning Zones at Central Saint Martins and London College of Communication. These are spaces for social and activity-based learning.

Our six Colleges also hold a wide range of archives and special collections that can be accessed by all UAL students.

These include:

  • African-Caribbean, Asian & African Art in Britain Archive
  • Stanley Kubrick archive, relating to his films and filmmaking process
  • Tom Eckersley archive, including examples of his famous graphic design and poster work
  • Walter Crane collection, holding over 150 books by and about the illustrator and social reformer. The Archives and Special Collections Centre at London College of Communication is a specialist hub for material about filmmaking, printing history and graphic design.”
