emlyon business school was founded in 1872 by the Lyon Chamber of Commerce and Industry and celebrated its 140th anniversary in 2012. Throughout its history, the school has remained true to its origins: entrepreneurial, innovative and humanist.
At emlyon we advocate entrepreneurial pedagogy. Instead of being the central point of a programme designed by other people, students develop their own learning projects in line with their ambitions, their talents and motivations.
The emlyon Faculty are there to support them in building their projects, create a constructive environment and provide the resources they need (content, methods, behaviour).
Research lies at the very heart of emlyon's strategy. It is the cornerstone of the school's past and present success, and shall remain so in the future. It is a key aspect of the school's added value, providing the foundation for its international credibility and reputation. It also helps to expand the skills and knowledge of its faculty members and, in turn, benefits its programme participants. This scientific research work underpins the Faculty's ability to achieve its mission. What's more, it enables the school to provide its business partners with critical watch system and ensures that they have access to the very latest knowledge.
Today’s graduates are likely to change role at least ten times during their professional life. The school's entrepreneurial pedagogy equips them to adapt, innovate, take risks, be open to the world. Unlike “learners” receiving knowledge from “knowers”, our students are the driving force behind their own learning project, a new way of learning to suit the new world.
All emlyon business school campuses have a number of innovative tools for learning, exchanging and creating: Creativity & Learning Hub, Learning Lab, interactive whiteboards, whiteboard walls, Apple TV/tablet, creativity boards and more… A reflection of innovative teaching, these facilities augur the teaching of tomorrow where school is not only a place for learning, but also a place where we learn to learn, to deconstruct and reconstruct knowledge.
The Lyon campus boasts high-quality sports facilities and offers a wide range of activities. Almost 30 different sports are available, for individuals and teams alike.
The campus features a gym (Building D) with wood flooring for handball, basketball, volleyball, football, badminton, table tennis, fencing, step aerobics, stretching etc.
Outside, two tennis courts, a beach volley court and a mini football field have been set up.
