At present it comprises nine faculties with over 200 departments, institutes and clinics. Recognized as one of the most important teaching and research institutions in the Czech Republic and a highly-regarded Central European university, it has been infused with a strong democratic spirit ever since its establishment in 1919.
You can choose from a broad assortment of degree programmes and combinations, from natural sciences to the humanities, at nine different faculties: Law, Medicine, Science, Arts, Education, Economics and Administration, Informatics, Social Studies and Sports Studies.
Masaryk University is a research university where research and teaching are closely linked. Its research activities are not limited to the Czech Republic: Masaryk University scholars work on every continent. One of its research centres is the first Czech polar station in Antarctica, where specialists are engaged in long-term research on the ecosystem.
The university regularly tracks student satisfaction, as well as their success in employment and practical life. According to surveys among students and graduates, about half of students find employment even before the end of their studies. The share of unemployed graduates one to two years after completion of studies is around 1 %.
The International Student Club plays a key role in the lives of international students at Masaryk University. Run by students at the university, its main activities include helping the Office for International Studies and faculties with orientation activities for international students when they first come to Masaryk University, running a tutor system and arranging for special language classes, and organising cultural and social events, sports activities and short excursions for Czech and international students.
The Libraries operate as an integrated system. There is no central library at MU. Each of MUs nine faculties runs its own central library, which provides the library and the information services for that faculty.
There are more than 1.6 million documents in MU libraries, of which one third are available in open access collections. There are also more than 10,000 journals accessible.
MU has a modern information system that allows you to organise your studies over the internet, without needless paperwork, queues, and extra trips.
There is a large NON-STOP computer centre in the town centre at Komenského nám., with more than one hundred terminals. It is open to all Masaryk University students 24/7.
A super-modern lecture and research campus awaits you in Brnos Bohunice quarter. In the city centre classes are taught in historical buildings that have undergone extensive reconstruction and modernisation of technological infrastructure as well as laboratory facilities, classrooms and libraries.

You won´t be sweating just the exams! You can participate in the wide variety of sports activities offered by the University Sport Centre. These include various kinds of aerobics, aikido, athletics, badminton, basketball, bodybuilding, canoeing, a climbing wall, dance, fitness yoga, floorball, football (soccer), golf, jogging, karate, modern gymnastics, mountain biking, Schwinn cycling, self-defence training, skiing, squash, swimming, table tennis, tennis and volleyball... And don´t miss the week-long sports courses!

Masaryk University is the public university and all of its degree programmes are approved by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports provided they have an affirmative standpoint from the Accreditation Commission.
