In Bodø, UIN is located at Mørkved, approximately 8 kilometres east of Bodø's city centre. The campus was established in 1985, and has since then been expanded as UIN has grown. The last part of the construction was finished in 2005, and includes a new and modern library as well as a new entrance area. UIN also has one campus in Campus Helgeland(Mo i Rana) and one campus in Vesterålen ( Stokmarknes).

The University of Nordland`s legal basis and governing document is the Act relating to Universities and University colleges. As set forth in the Act, the University of Nordland is a non-profit organization conducting education and research.

Library information

The Library welcomes you to the University of Nordland Library, and we hope that you during your studies will learn to appreciate the city, the college and of course the Library.

The new Library is rated amongst the best in Norway! We provide a good range of services, and we hope you will use our services during your studies in Bodø.

The physical collection

Consists of about 175.000 volumes of books, periodicals and other materials. You can browse the physical collection through our catalogue BIBSYS, and find out if we have the material you're looking for or not. Don't worry if you do not find what you are looking for.

BIBSYS covers the collections for all universities, colleges, scientific colleges and a lot of other institutions in Norway, and you have the possibility to take your search to the catalogues of all these Libraries at the same time if you want. If you then find what you're looking for, just press the button marked "Order/reserve", fill out the form, and press the button "Send". Your order will be received at the Library immediately and we will handle it as quickly as possible. The book will be ordered from another Library, and will be available within 5 - 10 days.

Food on Campus

On campus in Mørkved we have in all 4 different outlets offering a wide variety of food and beverages, put together to meet the varying nutritional needs of our students. Our main outlet is the "kantina" situated in its own building accross from Entrance B, which serves breakfast, hot and cold lunch menus, and a selection of fish or meat for dinner.

Computer Labs, Internet and Email AccessThere are several computer labs located throughout campus available for students 24-hours a day. A few of the labs have technology like scanners, digital cameras, etc. that students may use. With your student key card you will have access to the main building on campus, and the computer labs, at any time.

The university provides free internet access for all students, however between 08.00 and 16.00 the playing of games and the use of chat rooms is prohibited. The downloading of material which may be offensive to others using the computer labs, is prohibited at all times. It is also important to note that the downloading of pornographic images from the internet will be registered on the universitys computer system. Food and drink are forbidden in the labs.

Printing and CopyingEach computer lab is connected to its own printer, and you will have good access to printers and copy machines. Your student ID will be used as both copy and print card woth pre-paid accounts.Please note that each printer has its own name, and if you should encounter any difficulties with the printers, you need to note the name of the printer and report it to the Brukerstøtte (help desk). The photocopiers for use by students are located around the campus.

Sport Facilities

University of Nordland offers several different options for sports and athletic training. There are indoor and outdoor football fields (one outdoor field that is heated for winter play), open areas for sports of all kinds, gymnasiums, weight training facilities, a rock climbing wall, and more. The university rents out canoes, bicycles and skis to students to enjoy the outdoor surroundings. There are extensive cross-country skiing / hiking trails in the hills surrounding the school. University of Nordland encourages its students to stay active and enjoy the beautiful natural environment around Bodø - climb Keiservarden for a spectacular view of the city, go to Svartisen glacier and hike on the ice, or hire a guide to take you deep-sea rafting. The possibilities are virtually endless for outdoor adventures in and around Bodø.

Student life at University of Nordland


Mørkved is University of Nordland's main campus, located approximately 10 kilometres east of Bodø city centre. The campus was established in 1985, and is characterised by modern buildings and facilities. The construction of the new library and main entrance area was completed in 2004.

Uinversity of Nordland is continually investing in its infrastructure to ensure that its students have the most up-to-date research tools and study facilities. From our cutting-edge new library on which construction was completed in December 2005, to great recreational facilities, you'll soon see why more and more international students choose Bodø every year.


In Stokmarknes in the island region of Vesterålen, UIN offers decentralised Bachelor degrees in Nursing, primary school teacher education and social worker educateion, as well as Bachelor in Business Administration. With Hålogaland Hospital dep. Stokmarknes in close proximity to campus, Stokmarknes also offer practical training for full -time nursing students.

Mo i Rana-

This campus is localised in the city centre of Mo i Rana in the south of Nordland fylke. From this campus, University of Nordland offers undergraduate degrees in nursing and business studies.
