About

History

The Faculty of Sport and Health Sciences celebrates the 10th jubilee year of the international Master's degree programmes in 2015. For this occasion, a 2-day event will be organized in December. All alumni, current students and staff of the degree programmes are invited.

Education

The Faculty hosts about 40-50 international non-degree (exchange or visiting) students each year. We also have international Master's Degree Programmes in the fields of Sport Management and Health Promotion, Sport and Exercise Psychology and Biology of Physical Activity.

  • Non-degree studies - short-term studies in the Faculty: Exchange students from our partner universities, visiting students enrolled to a university abroad
  • Master's degree studies - how to complete a master's degree in the Faculty as an international student: International 2-year (120 ECTS) Master's Degree Programmes
  • PhD studies

Research

Our research activities cover the entire human life-span. Internationally significant areas of research are:

  • Neuro-muscular mechanisms and adaptation in physical exercise
  • Health sciences, especially physical activity and health, aging and health promotion
These areas in our research contribute to the multidisciplinary clusters conducting departmentallly collaborative research within University of Jyväskylä:
  • Children, young people and their growth environments
  • Ageing and well-being

Student services

The Goodie wellbeing advisers are there for you when you need someone to talk to.

They are University staff members, who have been selected and trained to support the wellbeing of students, but they are not therapists or psychologists. You can come with any issue or problem and discussions are always kept confidential.

Goodie advisers can help you find information on how to promote and enhance your own wellbeing, put you in touch with available peer support groups and share ideas how to build your own support network.

If needed, they will guide you further to find a solution for your situation.
