About IEDC Bled School of Management

Creative environment for creative leadership

IEDC-Bled School of Management is a pioneer in providing a “creative environment for creative leadership”, an innovative approach which encourages business leaders to take on new, and more creative ways in meeting their challenges.

The school is driven by a vision that successful management is not only affected by one’s own company and the business world it is part of, but also by the society that surrounds it, and aims to promote ethical, socially responsible and creative leadership. Significant emphasis is put on exposing the participants to experiences from broader human activities and in particular arts, science and philosophy.

Art as inspiration for managers and leaders, and learning from other professions are special features of the IEDC approach. Not only does the school feature a contemporary art collection, but it regularly invites guest lecturers from society at large, including prominent creative and performance artists, sportsmen, leading politicians and philosophers, NGO representatives, as well as successful business people, to open up the mind to the importance of original and creative thinking, quality and communication.
Guest lecturers from society at large
Guest lecturers include prominent creative and performance artists, sportsmen, leading politicians and philosophers, NGO representatives, as well as successful business people, all aimed at opening up the mind to the importance of original and creative thinking, quality and communication. Art inspires, enriches our feelings, opens new horizons, helps to explore relationships, teaches us to learn about ourselves, and helps us to become more responsible and creative leaders. Some of the world’s top artists, who provide lectures to IEDC participants, are Haris Pašovi´c, film director, Marko Letonja, orchestra conductor, Rade Šerbedžija, actor and poet, Marjetica Potrc, sculptor, Vojteh Ravnikar, Architect, Miha Pogacnik, violinist and cultural ambassador, and many others.

Slovenia is a colorful country with a well-preserved natural environment. In spite of its geographically small size, it is a convergence point of different landscapes Alpine and Mediterranean, Pannonian and Dinaric each of which has its own characteristics and unique features. At the heart of Europe, between Austria to the north, Italy to the west, Hungary to the east and Croatia to the south, Slovenia has always been a crossroads of trans-European routes. You will surely be surprised by many of its special attractions.

IEDC-Bled School of Management is located in idyllic and tranquil Bled, which has been described as the kind of place that can still astonish even the most spoiled and satiated cosmopolitan. The beautifully sited and designed campus overlooks breathtaking scenes of the Alpine lake Bled. Yet, it is only 30 minutes from the airport and 50 minutes from Slovenias capital Ljubljana.

Bled, a town with over thousand years of histroy, was already famous at the beginning of the 20th century as the most beautiful health spa of the then Austrian empire and attracted the European aristocratic elite. Cosmopolitan seekers of diversity and beauty, of relaxation and inspiration, tranquility and the outdoors will find here a multitude of opportunities. Golfers, for example, will be able to enjoy the Bled golf course which is considered to be one of the most beautiful courses in Europe. The image of Bled with the castle, the lake and the island in the middle of the lake, are sights that made Bled known all over the world.

With its natural beauty, points of historical interest and an advantageous geographical location south of the Alps, Bled is an ideal place for learning and reflection.

Bled is approximately 60 km from Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia, and 45 km from the national borders with Austria and Italy, with excellent motorway, rail, and air links to Slovenia and the rest of Europe. The nearest international airport is 36 km away.
