Karlshochschule International University

Karlsruhe, Germany
The ability to change one's perspective is an important educational objective of our University. This objective is supported by our interdisciplinary orientation. Learning contents are to be conveyed from the points of view of various disciplines and, if possible, through an interaction and discourse between representatives of different disciplines. The disciplinary diversity of the staff is an advantage that was intentionally created. The concept of integrative modules with a standardized module examination requires and supports close interdisciplinary exchange.

Research

I see a department that views management from the cultural science perspective of performance and therefore proceeds in a manner that is multidisciplinary and integrates science. Performance is understood as a management concept here and is illuminated from very different points of view – e.g. sociological, esthetic, and ethical. I envision the terms “space” and “staging” being understood as aspects of performance and forming the starting point for scientific investigations.

Services

Housing services

Some of our students and alumni are also on hand to tell you about their daily life as a student, the practical semester, their experiences abroad and the process of application. Our professors offer short, interactive lectures to give you a taste of the very special way we teach at Karls. During a guided tour of the University you can also attend presentations from our student project groups, who have the opportunity to take part in company projects or even advise companies and other organizations while they are still students.

Library services

Imagine a library with no walls, and where the whole University is reservoir of knowledge. I imagine Karlshochschule is exactly like this. The centrally located library forms the heart of the University, and spaces for reading and studying can be found throughout the entire campus, and are available to all students and visitors.
